Hillary: I Will Not Listen To Military Leaders on Iraq
Leibowitz's Canticle ^ | April 15, 2008 | Leibowitz

Posted on 04/16/2008 6:13:57 PM PDT by Bob Leibowitz

In response to a direct and clear question from Charlie Gibson, Hillary Clinton said tonight that she would withdraw military forces from Iraq no matter the circumstances on the ground, even against the advice of her military leaders.

She was clear and unequivocal.

Gee, I thought her criticism of President Bush was that he doesn't listen to the military leadership.

You’d have to be a fool to think Hillary would get us out of Iraq. She’s playing to people’s emotions and the public here. Let’s face it, she might be on a different team than Bush and Co, but she plays in the same league. Same is true for Obama.

She and her fans consider her to be more of a man than the top commanders. That’s no surprise. And if she were commander-in-chief, many others like her would pose. But she would make a really bad joke of our defense.

Don't forget, Obama said the exact same thing, he said the new mission he will give them is leave Iraq. Neither one of them cares what the generals say, both will abandon our ally, abandon a strategic Middle East country, abandon the oil reserves. They just don't care damn it, Iraq is going down!

"Because it's breakable!!!"

"Hillary: I Will Not Listen To Military Leaders in Iraq"

Yes, but SHE LIES. There is no way of determining from what she says what she would do. Remember that good old standby - I didn't have all the facts until I got elected and was privy to all the info, yada, yada, yada.

Can't believe ANYTHING ANY of them say to secure your vote, especially a Clinton. Check the past performances of all of them and make a guesstimate on what any will do based on that. Ignore ALL the promises, statements, etc., during the campaign.

They just don’t understand what President Bush is trying to do in Iraq and how important it is for us to have long-term (not permanent) military bases located in the midst of the Middle East to influence both our friends and enemies.

In the last couple of weeks, both Clinton and Obama have stated they couldn’t pull troops out right away. Let’s face it, the WOT is looking rather successful right now. The Democrats don’t want another McGovern on their hands running into November.

Hillary and Obama are abysmal. I’m not convinced they would execute the former policy statements regarding the war. Those statements got them here, but they won’t get them from here into the White House.

Whether one believes what she says or not, would she face down the Congress and the overwhelming majority in her party, plus the Republican RINO’s, when they started to clamor for a pull-out? The political pressure would force Hillary or Obama to pull out, no matter what leaks they issue from advisers who say they wouldn’t.

I've noticed that McCain seems to be spending a lot of time learning from President Bush about the big issues. Obviously, McCain will never be blessed with President Bush's natural genius or abilities, but he will always be able to go back to President Bush for advice.

“Clear and unequivocal” is the middle stage between “What should I stay that will get me elected” and “I mis-spoke”. The only real question is how long we’ll stay in stage two before we get to stage three. I have 29 hours in the pool on this one.

“Unfortunately a lot of that is W’s fault.”

Both Hillary and to a lesser degree Obama articulated reasons for the withdrawal premised on the Iraqi government’s failure to meet targets, that is, primarily, an oil sharing agreement.

Bush’s “hands off” policy has much to do with this open wound that has lasted to long.

I remember Powell talking about it, saying we should have “imposed our will”, decoded- Bush’s fantasy that the Iraqis would work together without sticks was wrong.

Obama Camp Response on Debate

From NBC's Mark Murray

A statement from Obama campaign manager David Plouffe:

“Tonight we saw a real choice between the old politics of point-scoring and distraction and a politics that focuses on bringing us together to actually solve the challenges we talk about every single election.

Continuing the theme of her campaign, Senator Clinton used every single opportunity she had to launch misleading attack after misleading attack against Barack Obama, which is why polls show that most Americans think she’s running the most negative campaign and don’t believe she’s trustworthy.

Barack Obama spoke about the issues that actually matter in people’s lives, like how he plans to end the war in Iraq, cut middle-class taxes, help people stay in their homes, and provide a secure retirement for our seniors. That’s why more Americans are putting their trust in Barack Obama to bring about the change we need in Washington."

I'm on the left coast and do not plan to watch. I have far better things to do with my time.

I hope the Witch got creamed . . .

I personally, like the questions to Clinton that 6 out of 10 voters in Pen. don't believe Clinton is honest.

My comment is that she lies and had not qualms about telling the truth.
