Okay, can someone help with this?
If one sees a Holy Mass Live, that means we get the blessing at the end. Is that correct?

On tape, no blessing?

Th Holy Father extends his apostolic blessing in the name of the Lord to everyone every day. If you are present, he expressly extends it to all of your family freinds and loved ones. If your priest or bishop is present, he expressly extends it to the members of each one’s flock.

If you had unconsecrated hosts in front of the TV during a TV mass, they would not be confected into the Eucharist as a result of that TV Mass.

Please don’t feed the trolls by making it sound as if the blessing is magic! ;o)

Wow. I never said, nor meant that it was magic.

It was about the videotaped version of a Papal Blessing. I thought at one time I read that ANY Holy Mass must be seen live.

I understand about the Anti-Catholic trolls but it was a simple question. If they have a problem with it, it’s their problem isn’t it?

And who is singing?

One of the Catholic freepers. I leave it up to them to decide if they wish to reveal their identity.

As for the blessing, yes, it is valid.

OH! I wish that FReeper would tell!
And thanks for the answer (we have EWTN on right now - we had planned on being there but couldn’t get tickets)

Jimmy Akin said this....

If a person watches a Mass live from television, can he reap the benefits of the various blessings the celebrant gives the congregation (e.g. the “Benedicat vos omnipotens Deus . . .”).

What if the Mass isn’t live?

This will depend on whether the person administering the blessings intends to include the television audience or not and whether he intends to include non-live viewers or not.

(I would like to think that B16 KNOWS all of us are watching!)

Why is it that every pope reads his speeches/sermon? Regardless of language they laborously read from a script.

How are you able to hear the music?
On EWTN, they are yakking non-stop; I’m tired of these guys. They’re even yakking over the procession now, very disappointing.

I just heard on EWTN:

The Pope will not allow extraordinary ministers today.

Pelosi, et al will have to hunt down a foreign-looking priest for Communion-one who does not see them publicly mock God on a regular basis.

I'm listening from the USCCB site -- they're yakking too, but maybe not as much? Hopefully they'll all shut up when Mass begins.

Not now. Raymond and Fr. Neuhaus are pretty good about being quiet during the liturgy. Thank God EWTN is not using the Vatican Radio commentary.

Not suprising that the Pope will not allow EME’s at this Mass and maybe at the others. Could it be a preview of things to come about the issue of the EME’s?

Why is it that every pope reads his speeches/sermon?

Consider all that goes into preparing for each Mass. The homily usually links the message of the Gospel to the world in which we live and, in this instance, more specifically to the country in which the Mass is being celebrated. The Holy Father's homilies are usually intensely theological, of how Jesus Christ works in and through us. English is not this Pontiff's native tongue. Far better that he read his homily (prepared by him) than to deliver any old message off the cuff.
