Protest School (Lawyers Training DNC Protesters)

With war protesters already promising to take over Civic Center during the 2008 Democratic National Convention, a group of Denver attorneys has launched what is, essentially, how-to-deal-with-police education.

In this week's seminars and panels sponsored by the group, DNC People's Law Project, and held at the University of Denver, protesters and activists are being given legal tools aimed at preventing their arrest and stymieing police in their attempts to infiltrate or gain on-the-ground information about protest groups.

"Cops lie: Don't trust cops!" Greg Michalec, of the Oakland, Calif., group Midnight Special Law Collective, wrote on a white board at the DU law school to set the tone for Monday's hour-long session.

What followed was a series of role-playing scenarios in which members of the audience of about 40 people acted as protesters bullied by Midnight Special instructors pretending to be nightstick-bearing police officers.

"Miranda rights are the only good advice you'll receive from police, and you should take it," said Dan Spalding, also of Midnight Special, who advised protesters always to say, "I'm going to remain silent. I want to see a lawyer."

Such training is likely to continue over the coming weeks and months, organized by the various range of protest and activist groups planning to greet the Democrats when they hold their convention Aug. 25-28.

"Our job is to make sure their voices are heard," said Brian Vincente, the chairman of DNC People's Law Project. He is trying to coordinate future trainings to avoid overlap.

Who was it that thought attracting every loony leftist and violent anarchist to Denver was a good idea?

“advised protesters always to say, “I’m going to remain silent. I want to see a lawyer.”

Would that be said before or after one assumes the fetal position and screams like a little girl?

These protesters claim that they want 1968 all over again. No telling if they are serious or not. But some are tied to the anti-globalization rock throwers that protest the G-8 meetings so there is certainly a high potential for violence.

It will be even better - 40 years is a long time...

1. Moonbats are dumber than ever,
2. Moonbats "feel their entitlements" more than ever
3. Crowd control technology has gotten more interesting
4. I can record it all on my DVR!

A good police insulator is to say: “Please direct all statements and questions to my attorney.” Importantly, be sure to make that statement in front of non-police witnesses. In *most* jurisdictions, if the police continue to talk to you or ask you questions, your answers will be inadmissible.

The statement that used to work was, “Am I under arrest?”, which if the police said “No”, then you were to walk away. However, the police learned to say, “Maybe, depending on what you say”. This is why the new phrase was developed.

Other things to remember is that it is now common for police to carry voice activated recorders. The good ones do so to help them create an accurate report. The less ethical ones for other reasons. So when you talk to a policeman, assume you are being recorded.

Just because you are being recorded with one device, does not mean that you are not being recorded with a second or third device. Small “voice stress truth detectors” are also becoming commonplace, and while they are not admissible, they are a very practical tool.

In some recent major demonstrations, the local government has instructed the police to both detain for days without arrest, and to use unlawful measures against demonstrators, since it is calculated that the lawsuits resulting in millions of taxpayer dollars eventually being given to demonstrators, will be “worth it.”

Um, no, you should say, "I want to talk to a lawyer.."

Trust me, seeing a lawyer ain't gonna do you any good..

The WTO agitators aren’t even American citizens. Their travel visas SHOULD be denied. Why permit these terrorists to enter our country and riot?

The leftists seem to have a monopoly on the protests. The main group protesting in the Twin Cities is the RNC Welcoming Committee:

http://www.rncwelcomingcommittee.org/

“Who We Are
The RNC Welcoming Committee is an anarchist / anti-authoritarian organizing body preparing for the 2008 Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minnesota.”

“FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

March 13, 2008

Press Contact: Diablo Bush, rncwcmedia (a) riseup.net

RNC WELCOMING COMMITTEE ORDERS TASERS FOR EVERY PROTESTOR

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The RNC Welcoming Committee (RNC-WC), an anarchist and anti-authoritarian organizing body based in the Twin Cities, announced today that it has ordered tasers for each of its members and friends. The announcement comes on the heels of last month’s St. Paul City Council approval of a St. Paul Police Department (SPPD) request for 234 tasers.”

I hate to wish my life away, but man! I can't wait for the rat convention.
“By the time we got to Woodstock we were half a million strong!”
barack mcgovern or hillary mondale, it won't make a bit of difference. I have been saying this for months. Where are the voices that had the wise cracks about how Mccain couldn't win now?
You reading this Mark Levin? You were one of those who blinded himself with haterd from Mccain and proclaimed “He can't win!” Well he is going to win. He has a boat load of flaws and he is my fourth choice but I'd vote for Gorbachev before hillary of barack mcgovern. We can fix some of the damage McCain will do. We might not have a country if either of the two commies the rat is looking at get it.
America is our country. The Democrats hate our country. It is up to us to fight for America,

ReCreate 68 is an umbrella network that was organized by Glenn Spagnuolo, Barb Cohen and Mark Cohen. Recently, these 3 have been gaining publicity in Colorado for their plan to turn the Denver city into a massive ground zero .

One group in particular was handing out DVDs out one of their meetings. The group calls themselves, RAMID, or Revolutionary Anti-Imperialist Movement - Denver.

In 1917 there is the Russian Revolution:

And while the Socialist Party was founded in 1901 in the United States, it splits in 1919 with the Communist Party.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socialist_Party_of_America

In general, I plucked 1918 as a point in American history (and world history) when Socialists/Communists/Anarchists revolted around the world. No particular event and some things came to a fever pitch after that point.

And 1968 was a series of global Communist revolutions too. The Czech revolt was AGAINST Communism and it does not get the same awe.

I agree about the possibility of violence.

They've been telegraphing their intentions for months now.

The Gov and Mayor of Denver better get their acts together on security for that thing.

Fighting with the Aurora PD right now is pretty discouraging.

Only if some loyal stalwart Republicans show up with gas masks & video camera’s and are willing to get up close to the freak show & also do it in a fashion that doesn’t torque off the cops.
