WASHINGTON (AP) Democrats in Congress, seeking to avoid a vote on funding the Iraq war during the fall campaign season, are likely to combine President Bush's two pending requests into a single bill to be voted on this spring.
House Democratic aides said Thursday that Bush's $108 billion request to finance military and diplomatic operations in Iraq and Afghanistan through the Oct. 1 end of the 2008 budget year is likely to be combined with his $70 billion request to continue the war into the next president's term.
"You vote one time and get the money out of the way," said Rep. John Murtha, D-Pa., chairman of the House panel responsible for the Pentagon budget. He cautioned that House leaders have not officially endorsed the idea.
But votes on war funding bills inevitably generate tension among Democrats and unhappiness among their core supporters, who are strongly opposed to funding the war. That has leaders such as House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., hoping to avoid a second vote in the fall.

LOL... this is not going to make the MoveOnBats happy... They want to see the Demodogs bring up the war funding in as small increments as possible, and as many times as possible this year to “apply pressure” and “keep the issue in the public eye”.
I see this as surrender of the Iraq issue by the Congressional Demodog’s to the President... They KNOW the surge is working, and they are trying to shuffle the issue under the table and OUT of the public eye as much as possible now.
The title is totally misleading because they are voting for the Fall bill in the Spring.
Oh, I know...
They are trying to get the Iraq war out of the news now as much as possible, since they fear greatly that by the time Fall comes around, it will be indisputable that Iraqis have shown they are going to successfully take charge of their country, and that President Bush was right all along!
'Fraid your power to spin it is getting weaker?
Good. The sooner they do the right thing and get the funding for the military done the better. Who cares about scoring political points? The war funding is not something to play politics with.
This title is as humorous as the Rats themselves. The AP is trying through the title to portray the Rats as not even going to vote on funding but then the article shows they’re going to increase funding.
OK, this one’s about murtha.
GOOD!!! It gives the President time to veto it and demand it be stripped of pork. If the dems fear dealing with this in the fall, they'll send up a clean bill quickly and then go back to bashing the CIC and the troops as their only weapon left to appease the moonbats.
That’s a good point if the president will veto it because it’s pork laden because at least Pelosi and Murtha don’t want to deal with it in the fall.
NJ State Senator and US Senate candidate Jersey Joe Pennacchio wants an apology from murtha. Yo Joe!! Get in line!

LOL! Fat Jack doesn’t know the meaning of the word apology but he does know “no comment.”
It’ll be good to see it his rotten self with his feet to ANY fire, eh? Speaking of the slow-bleed strategy-I’ve heard these stories about using tampons in Iraq to stop up a bullet hole.
Uh....I’ll stop while I’m ahead : )
Here’s another handy tip. When working in the heat, a sanitary pad dipped in cool water and adhered to the inside front of your hat will keep you comfy. But by doggies, I can’t get anybody to try it.
I'm shocked, I tell ya, absolutely shocked! LOL!
Er...yes, the troops take feminine products in their first-aid kits out on patrol for use because of their absorbency. 'Tis true. Didn't think many people back home knew about that. ;-)
AND al Qaeda. And Mookie's thugs are getting their butts kicked and the Iraqi government isn't letting up.
Iraq continues to move forward.
Did ye see the other tip at #16? Should come in very handy when yer done lollygaggin’ around ; )
