BARACK OBAMA: SUPPORTING THE RIGHTS AND TRADITIONS OF SPORTSMEN [read this CAREFULLY]
Barack Obama: Change We Can Believe In ^ | Barack Obama: Change We Can Believe In

Respect the Second Amendment: Millions of hunters own and use guns each year. Millions more participate in a variety of shooting sports such as sporting clays, skeet, target and trap shooting that may not necessarily involve hunting. As a former constitutional law professor, Barack Obama believes the Second Amendment creates an individual right, and he greatly respects the constitutional rights of Americans to bear arms. He will protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport, and use guns for the purposes of hunting and target shooting. He also believes that the right is subject to reasonable and commonsense regulation.

Obama has a Harvard law degree, and he cannot even plead ignorance as an excuse for his lie by omission.

The Second Amendment affirms the right to keep and bear arms for self-defense, e.g. against foreign invaders, domestic enemies of the United States, and also criminals. It does not even mention hunting or marksmanship, even though many people used firearms to procure food when it was written.

In addition, Obama is on record as advocating a HANDGUN BAN.

Please help expose this enemy of the Second Amendment for what he is--same for Hillary "Million Mom March" Clinton.

O’bama is a gun-grabber, plain and simple, despite any lies to the contrary on his website. That language is straight out of the Brady Campaign propaganda machine.

I wonder if Obama has ever even fired a gun? I find that most of my liberal acquaintances who are so against guns have no personal experience with them at all. So they literally don’t know what they’re talking about.

“He will protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport, and use guns for the purposes of hunting and target shooting.”

This is something I never agreed with. The Second Amendment was written to protect the people from their government, not to protect someone’s right to shoot deer.

Don’t get me wrong, I got no problem with hungers, but that’s not what the 2nd Amendment was written for.

Just last night at the debate...

This was an amazing B. Hussein moment, on the Second Amendment....

“Just because you have a right does not mean that the state or local government cannot constrain that right...”

Its amazing GOD gave me the right, The Founders restated that right, and B. Hussien, thinks he can now regulate it.

I don’t hunt, but I have guns.

No animal has ever tried to break into my house, rob me, or try to take away my rights.

As Duncan Hunter so succinctly stated:

“It seems every election year, some liberal politician dons an NRA cap and grabs a shotgun for a hunting photo-op, as if that means they support our right as Americans to keep and bear arms. But the second amendment is not about hunting. It is about the right of you and me to be secure in our homes.”

I saw that. This guy once lectured at a law school? That says a lot about their program.

I'll say this slowly to Obama. The Second Amendment is not about hunting. I'll repeat it. The Second Amendment is not about hunting. One more time. The Second Amendment is not about hunting.

Re: “No animal has ever tried to break into my house, rob me, or try to take away my rights.”

Bears HAVE been known to break into houses to get at the food, although criminals are obviously the most frequent offenders. Every so often, the NRA’s Armed Citizen section has an interesting story about a defensive gun use (DGU) against a wild animal or vicious dog. There are still a few things running around the woods that will eat us, or pets or children, if they get an opportunity.

I don’t believe the founders of the constitution ever thought food gathering would come under fire. Hussein tries to diminish the 2nd to the moonbats, as a hunting right. I think he actually helps solidify how stupid he and the moonbats are.

Before Obama was a Senator, he was on the board of the Joyce Foundation, an anti-2nd Amendment organization.

“Hussein tries to diminish the 2nd to the moonbats, as a hunting right.”

This is what I was trying to say. It’s more important than hunting ducks, it’s a protection from the tyranny of our own government.

The Bill of Rights is to be an area the Government cannot infringe, not something the Government allows. States demanded this before ratification. Hussein and his "constraint" answer last night is clearly unconstitutional.

(I know you understand it, just splainin' it for our moonbat lurkers) :^)

The Second Amendment was written to protect the people from their government, not to protect someone’s right to shoot deer.

That is exactly what the 2nd Amendment is all about. One way that the British government controlled their citizens (and I guess still do) was by the fact that ordinary people were not allowed to own weapons. I believe you had to either be a member of the aristocracy or be a landowner.

Jefferson, Madison, et al, wanted to make sure that citizens of the United States had the means, if necessary. to overthrow the government if that government ever tried to take our basic rights and freedoms from us.

Liberals always purposefully misinterpret the 2nd amendment.

To accept Obama’s point of view on the 2nd Amendment, one must believe that the Founders insisted upon a Constitutional amendment protecting access to toys. By equating arms with sporting goods, Obama would have us believe that outdoor toys were an all-important subject to men like Jefferson and Madison.

Hunting is not in the 2A. It is not a protected right. Obfuscating hunters into thinking that they alone have “valid” reason for owning a gun is an old Dhim ploy.

There is nothing more regulated than hunting. Allowing the 2A to be pigeon holed as a “hunting right” is a big mistake.

With modern technology, we could do without the second amendment. Have each office holder, on assuming, wear an exploding collar around their neck during their time in office, subject to the popular vote of the people to explode or not during the next weeks average consensus. They might be a little more careful, ya think?

Hogwash, BS, and drivel. When has a Democrat ever supported the right to bear arms? They believe that gun control is the answer to the crime problem.

Sure, Obama, just substitute abortion for RKBA and see if you can mouth the words.

Here we go again: he who defines the meaning of words controls the outcome of the debate.

In this “dialog”, the speaker is assuming exactly who gets to determine what is “reasonable”? And the “commonsense” that is mentioned. Common upon which group of people, those who consistently propose that all guns in private hands be seized and outlawed?

Obama has already told us, for he supports the present DC gun ban.

popdonnelly said: "When has a Democrat ever supported the right to bear arms? "

How about this: "Certainly one of the chief guarantees of freedom under any government, no matter how popular and respected, is the right of citizens to keep and bear arms.... The right of citizens to bear arms is just one guarantee against arbitrary government, one more safeguard against the tyranny which now appears remote in America but which historically has proven to be always possible." -- Hubert Humphrey, 1960
