I’m sure no one can pin-point this down as a certainty, but doesn’t it look like there is a pause for dramatic effect. His finger goes up right after he says that Hillary was in her element. There is also a cheer immediately after it. The video has been making the rounds of some pro-Hillary leftwing blogs, and on one hand its convincing. On the other, I'm unsure. I was hoping Freepers could help me determine.

Is there footage out there of him scratching with his middle finger on other occasions? Maybe its just something he does.

No question about it. Watched it a couple of times. When one takes into account his words and the timing, that was no simple face scratch. Obama clearly flipped Hillary the bird.
He certainly sat in the Wright pew for this to be the case. After buying into (and underwriting) that trash for 20 years, how could you NOT have pent-up racist hatred just waiting to surface?
I updated the post now. After seeing the video from another angle I determined it is manufactured controversy...however easy to see why people would think what they did. The other angle shows that he was actually using two fingers at the questioned point. I appreciate everyone’s help.

How weird a coincidence is that?
What explains his other non-verbal actions?
Like dusting his clothes off?

Oh I think anyone with any street cred knows exactly what the combination of those actions means.

Two fingers with one slightly raised, is a well-known ‘salute’, and others have pointed out some examples like MIB.

I read a book about body language a while back. It was very interesting.
A person touching, scratching or rubbing their nose is exhibiting deception. I have tried to determine if that is true or not. Don’t know.
But there were a few other mannerisms described in the book that DID fit perfectly, and I observe it all the time. Someone crossing their legs at the ankles is feeling anxiety. Someone crossing their legs at the angles and folding their arms across the chest is an even higher level of anxiety.
I worked in direct patient care for a long time, and was able to observe it in people readily. Then, it occurred to me one day at a dentist’s office that I had my ankles crossed and arms folded. I was just laying there in the chair waiting to get started, and looked down. Ruh Roh.
But you know what I found? I was able to reduce my anxiety by uncrossing my ankles and arms. Just amazing that it worked.
And these people want to be in charge.
It certainly looks like he did it on purpose and the reaction of the crowd seems to confirm it.

Just watch the black guy in the orange shirt on the left in the other video. He picks it up right away. A typical white person might miss it.

Good God, people, we need to be sure this little twerp of a puppet doesn't get anywhere near the WH.
He has no substance. He's merely a Polished, Programmed Puppet - and it is the strings we need to follow back to his puppet masters. ... Which doesn't even include the Rev. Wrong - he is just his Svengali handler, keeping him in line. Others, far worse, are pulling the strings.
