BUFFALO, Minn. -- Steve Remer chased burglars from his Buffalo, Minn home with a gun after finding his bedroom door tied shut and unfamiliar noises around the house.
It really makes you mad thinking that somebody came in like that while you were sleeping, Remer said.
Remer was startled out of his sleep by some strange creaking noises he thought were caused by the wind. When he tried to open his door, he found it had been tied shut.
I could see the rope there and thought, who the hell is playing this joke on me, Remer said.
Then, Remer heard an unfamiliar voice in the hallway. He grabbed his .357 handgun from the closet and chased the intruder down the stairs and out the front door, firing several shots at their stolen SUV on the way out.
Remer says he didnt want to shoot the suspect in the back. He said since they gave him a break and didnt do anything to him while he was sleeping, he wanted to make sure they saw his face if he pulled the trigger.
When Remer went back into the house, he found a second suspect locked in a bedroom.
I said come on out -- put your hands on your head, Ill show you a little about Hanoi, Remer said, with a laugh.
It was meant as a joke to them, but Remer says the suspect didnt take it lightly, instead jumping out a window and running off.
Police caught up with Michael Rolla, 18, who led them to his accomplice, Jeremy Fuller, 18. Officers also arrested Kyle Posusta, 24, after finding Remers stolen guitars and electronics in Posustas apartment.
Steve Remer thanked police for catching the criminals, saying some people may have been more defenseless than he. Remer bought the gun a few years ago for protection, but never thought he would use it.
And here I thought it might've been one of you two.
Those of us who own firearms for personal protection awlays hope that we’ll never use them for same. However, in the event they are needed, it’s very important to have practiced a wide variety of scenarios before hand, and to have spent a lot of time at the range.
Get off a few rounds at the criminals and the word gets around among the thieves...
My H&K USP Tactical stays within arms reach here in Homestead, Florida. I even carry it to work...........this is a rough place.
Buffalo man won’t you come out tonight, come out tonight....
Oops this doesn't sound good for the hero. I'm sure LE might have a little talk with him.
Obviously just another bitter man clinging to his gun. But if we elect the chosen one, all feelings of bitterness will be eliminated. The young criminals victims will have everything they ever needed wanted, and will no longer need to steal questionably appropriate someone else's hard earned greed driven possesions.
A .357 in the old man’s closet. Nice.
He did a great job.
Hubby went to a homeowners meeting the other night and found out that a gang from CA. has been hitting a lot of houses in our area, 20 homes, in broad daylight. Quite a few in our “gated area”. The police finally caught them.
Just received an email from a friend who moved to a nice area in Phoenix, and there had been quite a few burglaries in her area, she had sent the news clipping to her Mother in Iowa and her Mother wrote back that the house next door to where she used to live in Iowa had a home invasion.
All over the country, be prepared.
Most excellent choice. Mines a .45.
If he killed someone as they’re fleeing - he could be in a world of hurt. [Don’t flame me its the law] But did good by not being isolated from his weapon in the house. Also take yer cell phone with you; intruders could always disrupt phone the landline service.
I have two in 45 ACP. I'm collecting certain 'black' weapons in case the worst happens in the up coming elections.
I'm also stocking up on ammo. "Praise God and pass the ammunition."
H&K - a great investment. I got the H&K P2000 +brand new CCW permit.
Yes, indeed. My P7M8 is now worth at least five times what I paid for it!
But that is "one check I'll never cash"..... ;-)
There aren’t any illegal guns in Buffalo New York, they had a gun buy back last year and all the guns are off the street. There isn’t any crime in Buffalo anymore...
< / sarcasm>
I'm sure I am supposed to get this? Can someone give me a 'clue'? Thanks.
Let’s understand something. You get up during the night and there’s an intruder. He is facing you, coming toward you. You make him a dead intruder. An intruder who won’t ever get the chance to steal, rape or kill in an innocent person’s house.
If intruder is leaving (back to you), let him go.
This in upstate NY? Somebody’s going to jail, and it’s not the criminals.
“This in upstate NY? Somebodys going to jail, and its not the criminals.”
No, this is in Minnesota.
Oh wow, I didn’t know there was a Buffalo in Minnesoooooooota.
I've got a new Springfield Armory Scout Squad in Mossy Oak waiting for me at the local gunshop when I get back home.
I'm gonna point an Aimpoint on it.
