FOX ^

Comedian Bill Maher stopped short of apologizing Friday night for accusing Pope Benedict XVI of being a Nazi, but he said he'd refrain in the future from drawing that connection.

"I will never make 'the pope is a Nazi' joke again," Maher said on his HBO show, "Real Time With Bill Maher."

The only thing Maher is “sorry” about is having to apologize.

Maher is what splatters all over the toilet bowl after eating a tainted chili cheese dog (beef of course).

I heard a media analyst on FoxNews yesterday who said that Maher’s show does indeed make money for HBO. I’ve never seen the show and don’t watch HBO, so I can only pass on what I heard.

Who ‘drives’ Maher’s “career”? Hasn’t it been O-Ver since the 9/11 “cowards” comment? I figured it was. Who keeps hiring this hack? You know what’s really funny? - when an article describes Maher as a “comedian”. Now that’s funny.
I’ve only known Maher to be a non-Patriot societal hack with a microphone. Maybe his current comments will finally bring an end to his loser “career”.

With another religion, he'd be dead, but then that's why he's brave enough to say this sort of thing about the Pope, and not an imam or a certain pedophiliac prophet.

I liked the Sopranos well enough that I continued subscribing to HBO even though I felt like I was supporting the likes of scum like Maher. After the Sopranos last show, I could not leave them fast enough. I believe they have steadily lost subscribers since the Sopranos exit.

this poor excuse for an entertainer gains considerable strength and status with all of this free publicity he receives from such crass remarks.

He has made prime time on literally every news outlet - Wow - and it didn't cost him a cent, and he also gains a considerable audience wanting to hear his next broadside.

Who wins - the public or Maher??

I watched Maher's non-apology.

It's pathetic.

Maher said that Pope Benedict took the formal oath in front of Hitler when he was 14. Not true!

Pope Benedict's instructor signed the form to show that he had attended the prescribed number of meetings, when in fact he didn't. This was done so that Joseph Ratzinger could continue his studies in the seminary.

Maher also said that if the Pope were in charge of hundreds of Day Cares, and the sex abuse scandal, he would be in jail.

Pope Benedict didn't become Pope until after all this had exploded a few years prior.

Maher continues to get it all wrong, and does nothing but show his absolute contempt for the Catholic Church.

This sicko Maher used the ploy of issuing the usual sly and phony "apology" wherein he gets to repeat the calumny again.

He is lower than pond scum.....he is filth of the lowest location on this entire earth.

What keeps him on the air.....an amoral society and listening audience?.....or the nitwork owners and big guns who approve his garbage?......or a little of both?........(which is what I think).

Interesting comment by Maher about the Pope being in jail were he the CEO of a Day Care business. Joel Klein, the Chancellor of the NYC schools, and my boss BTW, is out and about even though the number of sex abuse cases during his tenure by his employees dwarfs the numbers from the Archdioces of NY for the last ten years. And that's only the ones that make the police blotter.

Nationwide there is an epidemic of abuse going on in public schools and while these are reported in local media, there is no mention at all in the nationl outlets. Wonder why???

That was the “apology”???

He wasn’t sorry at all.

I do think, though, that catholics have overreacted. Who the hell cares what this scumbag says? The reputation of the church and the Pope do not depend on what non-funny comedians say.

For the Catholic League to formally respond elevates Maher to the level of someone of importance, which he surely is not.

Doesn’t surprise me.

The abuse scandals of the church are probably not statistically greater than the number of sex abuse cases involving secular teachers. I admit that the church deserves blame for a cover up, but when you discount the vast majority of cases that involved priests and teenage boys (i.e., homosexual encounters that do not qualify as pedophilia because the age of the “victim”), the number of priest-abuse cases is probably even smaller than the number of such cases involving secular teachers.

The difference in the number of pedophilia cases compared with the overall US population and cases not involving priests may even be statistically insignificant given the total number of priests and the number of students they encountered over the years. This whole thing has largely been an anti-catholic hoax that the MSM has deliberately misrepresented.
