Seattle - Flirts With Record Low Temps

Posted on 04/19/2008 9:55:39 AM PDT by zeestephen
The low temperature at SeaTac Airport last night was 34 degrees. The record low for this date was 33 degrees, set in 1961. The forecast high today is 46 degrees. The lowest high temperature for this date at SeaTac was 47 degrees, set in 1975. The Puget Sound region, especially north of Seattle, had 2-6 inches of snow, with some eastern areas reporting 10 inches. Although NOAA reports the fourth lowest March snow cover in North America, snow cover in the Cascades has been well above average since November.

Sounds like the convergence zone is now where the cold weather converges. Hope the special people at Pioneer Square have extra newspapers and refrigerator boxes to bundle up in.

Spring seems to be somewhat delayed this year. It was delayed last year so long that the growing season didn’t happen until it was half over. Maybe five weeks of growing.

It is good to know algore has stopped global warming. Where I am in Missouri it is a dreary damp cold day as well but the sun is to come out tomorrow.
Seattle - Flirts With Record Low Temps when I read these words I wondered what kind of dress Seattle had on and if it was holding some specific type of alcoholic beverage to demonstrate it was flirting????

Well, as I look out the window here in Seattle, it is snowing. I am dong my part by burning all my trash including plastic. We need to get more CO2 out there. My trees love it. Besides with the price of corn going up up up, we need more CO2 so it will grow faster.
Also we need to burn the virgin forests so we can release more CO2.
That will happen anyway thanks to the Environmentalists. Notice how the Politicians, Bureaucrats and Media have morphed from Global Warming to “Climate Change”.

My daughter in Eugene, OR woke up this morning to several inches of snow on the ground. She was so upset because last weekend was gorgeous.
Schwarzenegger just finished up at the governors’ meeting where apparently he achieved some consensus to get states to take action against global warming. The only possible action is to raise energy prices by 2x, 3x or more to reduce consumption, ending our way of life. All for no reason whatsoever.

Isn’t this right in the middle of the belt of the “global-warming True Believers”?
This must be a time to test their faith and tenacity, and for the doubters among their number to begin to feel just a little braver and outspoken. The more reason to hew ever more closely to the official line. This is just the forces that control the climate changes pausing briefly before the next steep climb in planetary temperatures.
“Oh, NO! We’re all gonna DIE!”
Well, maybe, some day, eventually.
But probably not from “runaway global warming”.

I’m in Port Angeles, Washington. That’s about 3 hours west of Seattle.
I spent about 3 hours mowing our lawns last weekend, roughed out where we’re going to put in a vegetable garden and started on my yearly tan. (I should have been fishing)
This morning there was about 2” of snow covering the property, but most of that has melted away. We are going to spend the afternoon playing with our dog along one of our lakes.
From time to time we have had snow in April, but hail is what we get more often at this time of year....and rain, lot’s and lot’s of rain. ;>)
Please, send us all of the CO2 that you can spare and I will send to you fresh rain water.

We were going to drive up to Port Angeles today (a six-hour drive from home), spend the night, then take the morning ferry over to Victoria for a couple of days.
There's snow on the Coast Range here in Oregon, not to mention driving up 101 along the Hood Canal.
We've postponed until the first weekend in June - hopefully we won't have to worry about snow by then ;-)
To: bigfootbob
Here in Vernon B C it is almost rain now, but this morning we had five inches of white stuff on the ground.
I w’ll have to call algore to see if I can get a refound on my carbon offset contributions

Reporting in from Deception Pass... It was snowing beautifully this morning, but has stopped for now. Nothing stuck here near the water, but on the hills it did. I read it might not go away for a couple days... Just think, if it weren’t for GW, we would be digging ourselves out from under 8 feet of snow right now- NOT!

Drove to get coffee this morning in Bellevue, WA. Its snow mixed with rain right now. Brrrrrr.......
The cascades are getting dumped on right now. I’m planning on going snowboarding tomorrow.
But I don’t know what the problem is. I moved here in 1992 and remember through the 90’s, we always had rainy, cold springs. Sometimes it didn’t get sunny till July.
Seems just that the past 5-7 years, we had these very warm springs with lots of sun. I think many got spoiled by this.

I have potatoes in, planted peas, lettuce and carrots last Sunday! I put in my onion sets three weeks ago, they should be OK.
I have a couple of perennial geraniums flopping hard and I’ve covered my Arisaema kishidae and Arisaema urishima which were up. The kishidae has even produced a spadix already!
I’m also concerned about my Galaxy Magnolia, the blooms don’t like this weather.
To: SkyDancer
Usually zero!
Last night I went to sleep at midnight, when there was 4 inches on the deck rail (this is in Edmonds, about 6 miles north of Seattle). Still snowing now, but it’s melting too - it is 36 degrees after all (wow, so balmy).
Apparently last weekend it was 78 degrees and beautifully sunny (I was over in China and Singapore - didn’t get to see it). Which was unusually hot for April.
As we say around here, if you don’t like the weather just wait for 5 minutes!

It’s supposed to snow tonight in the mountains surrounding Grants Pass.
It’s weird...the Rogue Valley had an 80 degree day, a few 70+ degree days, and then it got COLD.
I just thank God I didn’t plant my tomatoes yet!

By June you should be fine....more than fine! Enjoy your trip and drive careful.
I can see Victoria from our house ( it’s 19 miles across the water), it’s still there, but the water is quite choppy at the moment.
We spent a few days there last September and then a month in the San Juan Islands on our boat...it’s a very beautiful place.
As long as you are coming to Port Angeles, if you have the time, you might want to consider a drive up to Hurricane Ridge..... http://www.terragalleria.com/parks/np.olympic.5.html
BTW..I was born and raised in Oregon and I love every mile of the Oregon coast, especially Pacific City.

Although NOAA reports the fourth lowest March snow cover in North America NOAA is fudging the data. The weather records do not at all validate their contentions. Seem their PR campaign for the myth of Global Warming is more important to NOAA then objective gathering of the data.

I have a kool-aid drinker in my office that I tweak incessantly on this ... especially since he likes to think of himself as a player in the local scene of movers and shakers. He is obviously pained by the fact that he cannot win the debate. Here is my most recent foray with him.
I think you are unreasoning on this and believe you think the same of me. There are some crazy things going on like the ethanol issue in Iowa but I put my bottom line on the main stream science as I understand it. I believe that deniers are deluded, they believe that I (and thousands of dedicated, respected scientists) are deluded. The truth will out in the end and you, or I, will not change that one iota. And many more people will die as a result of these changes, most likely in our lifetimes. I think the die off will be roughly equivalent to the Black Death but thats just a personal calculation. Anyway, Ill take what little action I can in terms of personal behavior which is all too little and all too hard to take given the size of the problem as I understand them. It is all too easy to be a hypocrite on this to know yet not to do. I often fail to follow thru. Strangely it feels very similar to the problem some Christians have with sin. At least you dont believe it (human caused climate change) so it is much easier for you to not do without guilt. You do what you feel is best for you and yours. In the long run Mother Nature will let us know what she thinks load and clear. I suspect she doesnt really care about us at all and will lower the boom in a big way but I only know what I read and hear from those dedicated to studying the problem. You are right in that they might have a motive to spin the results but then it wouldnt really be science would it? (By the way the President of The World Bank is not a denier. I know that on only 2 degrees of separation within the last 48 hours).
dark recesses of Al Gores mind do you really, truly believe he has that much control over others? Wow, a very dangerous man.

real people are dying
today, because we are trying to fix a problem that was manufactured in the dark recesses of Al Gores mind.
One of the main factors behind the surge in prices is the increased use of crops for biofuels as an alternative energy source in developed countries.
Almost all of the rise in global corn production from 2004 to 2007 went to biofuels in the United States. As of tomorrow, all petrol and diesel sold in Britain will have to contain at least 2.5 per cent biofuel from crops.

Little did I know that when we returned from Maui on Saturday that snow and the cold would still be the hot news topic in the Seattle area. Wow! Take me back to Maui - please.
