Bill Ayers' brother, Rick Ayers, is lashing out at Hillary Clinton, accusing her of "McCarthyism" for making an issue of rival Barack Obama's links to Chicago professor Bill Ayers during this week's Democratic presidential debate.
"The fact that she would drag up this pathetic red herring about Obama's alleged ties to so-called terrorist Bill Ayers (my brother!) brings her right down to the level of Fox News and the National Enquirer," blogged Rick Ayers, a California high school teacher and author.
"This is the most base version of McCarthyism," he wrote. "Obama should have taken a page from Joseph Welch when he confronted the red-baiting senator during the Army-McCarthy hearings. He should have said, 'Senator Clinton, are you really going to go there? Do you have no shame?'"
Clinton raised the relationship as a potential general election sore spot for Obama should he defeat her.
Obama then downplayed his ties to Bill Ayers, who spent 10 years as a fugitive in the 1970s as a member of the Weather Underground, which protested the Vietnam War by bombing government buildings.
Obama — who lives near Bill Ayers, received a $200 campaign donation from him in 2001 and served with him for three years on a not-for-profit's board — also said he "detested" the Weather Underground's acts. Still, Clinton slammed Obama for not severing all ties with Bill Ayers.

First of all, McCarthy was essentially correct. There were Communists throughout the state department, in Hollywood, and in academia. The fact that ole’ Joe happened to hit on a few false positives in no way detracts from his overall veracity.
That having been said—likening someone to McCarthy is the penultimate refuge of scoundrels. If that doesn’t work, they’ll liken them to Hitler.

Rick Ayers is in advanced studies in the Language, Literacy, and Culture program of the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Education. He received his Masters in Education Mills College (1997) and has taught at Berkeley High School since 1995.
He was cofounder of the Communication Arts and Sciences (CAS) small school in 1997 and was lead teacher until 2006. He is co-editor of the series Between Teacher and Text (Teachers College Press) and of the book Zero Tolerance: Resisting the drive for punishment, A handbook for parents, students, educators and citizens (2001, New Press).
He is co-author (with Amy Crawford) of Great Books for High School Kids: A Teacher’s Guide to Books That Can Change Teens’ Lives (2004, Beacon Press), author of Studs Terkel’s Working, a Teaching Guide (2000, New Press) and co-creator (with students) of the Berkeley High Slang Dictionary (self published 2000, North Atlantic Book published, 2003).

McCarthyism=Man-Made-Global-Warming...both are liberal agenda based smears on otherwise sound, factually based evidence to the contrary.
At the level of say, a mollusk or similar morally advanced organism, like Ayers, McCarthyism means: guilt by association, of which Obama is guilty.
At the level of the popular press and in the "minds" of the Boobwazee, McCarthyism means: something said by a really bad person. Also true.
At the level of objective reality, McCarthyism means: telling the truth about a liberal or communist, and being vilified by liberals and communists for doing so.
Ayers is a genius; like him I regret he did not do more: he could have been blown up by one of his own bombs. An argument against a compassionate Providence, I'm afraid.

As an undergraduate at the University of Michigan—where he dated the late comedian Gilda Radner—he was drafted into the army and immediately took to organizing anti-war sentiment. When his company was deployed to Vietnam, he went AWOL, subsequently joining up with the Weather Underground, a radical anti-war group responsible for dynamiting public buildings like draft boards, prison offices and, most notably, the Pentagon. (Ayers declines to comment what activities he was involved in—if any.)
He grew up in the suburbs of Chicago, his father a businessman, his mother a stay-at-home mom. In high school, Ayers was part of a self-described “nerdy, artsy group,” and though a precocious student, he felt stifled by his surroundings.
“I was in honky heaven, and we were just dying,” he said. “Every time we could, we went out to Chicago and would hang out at blues clubs and go to museums.”
Ayers never completed his studies at the University of Michigan. After seven years on the lam, he turned himself into authorities and spent 10 days in jail. He finished his undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley in nutrition sciences and went on to receive a master’s from Mills College in education.
So he’s getting out—though he feels ambivalent about it. “I’m very torn about leaving,” he said.
After completing the Ph.D. program at UC Berkeley, Ayers plans to move on to training teachers, in hopes of instilling his own passion for teaching in others

Here’s just the tip of the iceberg. There is plenty about this guy on the net if you look. He is a true psychopath and a dangerous man to be in a classroom. He belongs in prison. Ayers got off on a technicality.

‘McCarthism’ is in the American Communist theology the equivalent of fire and brimstone, there is no point arguing with it, as it is a fundamental belief. It has nothing to do with facts of history. I've had a very long interest in Soviet espionage in this country and my awareness of Venona, The Mitrokin archives and the revelations from declassified Soviet archives long ago caused me to believe that Joe McCarthy got a bad rap, but I never knew how badly he was smeared, and how the Tydings Panel willfully destroyed him until I read it. Do yourself a favor, if you haven't already.
Now, how can we persuade these two brothers to actively campaing for O’Bambino once he secures the nomination? Maybe the Dohrn woman can join them too!

Haven’t read it, but I have read a good bit of “The Black Book of Communism - Crimes, Terror, Repression” which is a scholarly work from the archives of the Soviet Union. Communism is absolutely evil - always has been, always will be.

I very much agree about “The Black Book.” It should be on every bookshelf, and it drives me crazy that it’s not a standard part of American school curriculum. It’s interesting to note that it was written by three French socialists.
One of the most remarkable things about Venona is the fact that they “had the goods” on most of the people McCarthy was villified for mentioning (those on the so-called Lee List, and those he acquired from other sources). They could not validate any of the allegations because it would have compromised Venona.
Seems the Ayers family has none.
McCarthy was right.
Bill Ayers should hang, and anyone associated with him should be kept away from the levers of government power by any means necessary.
