The Council on Foreign Relations is a national membership organization. There are two groups of members, life and term members. Rational conversation can still be found but it can be a bit hard to find.
I’m not really complaining, just observing. If I didn’t like the place, I wouldn’t have been here so long.
If this observation makes me a conspiracy theorist, protectionist, John Bircher, third-party know-nothing, irrational, etc. then that's your opinion, which also might be irrational in light of facts and evidence. To me, an organized or "invisible hand" oligarchy makes as much sense as any other explanation for what has been happening. In case you haven't noticed, freedom has been on the decline, while there is no shortage of elitists who want to control our lives.
Of course there is a conspiracy, it is a vast left wing conspiracy to ruin the USA. This country is turning into a cesspool, right is wrong, wrong is right. Gay lifestyle is glorified in the media. The country's borders are wide open. Deficits in the trillions. The politicians ignoring the common sense of the constituents. Why can't we close the border? Why are the troops in Iraq when the invaders are here?
Not only that, but have you noticed how every Doctor that is quoted on any major medical story is a member of the AMA?

You will find rabid conservatives as well as rabid communists in it's ranks. The more conservatives shun the organization, the more left wing it becomes. It's a self-fulfilling (and self-defeating) prophecy.
The world is going to hell in a hand basket and yet FR still has more than it's share of sane members.
Savages statement that “Liberalism is a mental disorder” is more right than anyone can properly put into words.
