- Pope Benedict XVI, nearing the end of his six-day trip to the United States, opened a rare window yesterday evening into his own struggles as a child in Nazi Germany, telling a large rally of seminarians and young Catholics that his difficulties in that era helped him understand the challenges that young people face.
(snip)
"My own years as a teenager were marred by a sinister regime that thought it had all the answers," he told the seminarians and young people outside St. Joseph's Seminary, in the Dunwoodie section of Yonkers. "Its influence grew, infiltrating schools and civic bodies, as well as politics and even religion, before it was fully recognized for the monster it was. It banished God and thus became impervious to anything true and good. Many of your grandparents and great-grandparents will have recounted the horror of the destruction that ensued. Indeed, some of them came to America precisely to escape such terror."

I know that he's talking about Nazi Germany, but his description sure sounds like the utopia promised by the modern day liberal elites in both America and Europe.
(That's why I posted this in "News" vice "Religion," btw)
Catholic ping!
The news media has pulled back their negative comments. Except for Lou Dobbs. This man needs to leave CNN and TV period. People should write all sponsors of CNN and demand his removal. Not just the sponsors of Lou Dobbs but all the sponsors of CNN. Refuse to buy their products until this man is gone. Calling the Popes comments “repugnant” is over the top.
I read the article, what did I miss concerning CNN and Lou Dobbs?
I’m glad I’m not the only one who got that feeling. I felt that he was warning us that the state is an unpredictable and potentially dangerous beast, and that we should always be vigilant to maintain our freedom. I haven’t seen anybody else comment on that, though.

Right you are!
BTW: So glad I read your comment here because your addition to the title, “sounds like modern Dems”, made me think you were saying B16 sounds like them! Yipes! :-)
