Hamas Offers Israel 10-Year Truce in Exchange for Border Reform
Trans World News ^ | 4/21/2008 | Staff

Posted on 04/21/2008 11:16:05 AM PDT by forkinsocket

Khaled Mashaal, the leader of Palestinian militant group Hamas, has said their organization would be willing to offer Israel a 10-year truce if Israel were to remove itself from the lands it seized during the 1967 Middle East War.

Mashaal has said he made the offer on Saturday while speaking with former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and while the Hamas leader hinted that a Palestinian state would be limited to the West Bank, Gaza Strip and east Jerusalem there was no outright declaration that they would recognize Israel.

During Carter’s talk with Mashaal the Hamas leader said his organization would not look to block a peace deal between Palestinian President Moahmoud Abbas and Israel so long as Palestinians favored the deal.

Israel has not responded to Mashaal and view Hamas as the United States does, a terrorist organization. Israel has recognized that a Palestinian state should exist they have never expressed a willingness to return to the borders created prior to 1967.

This is rich, Israel has been trying to get the ragheads to form a government to turn these crapholes over to since ‘67 and they can’t come up with one.

Didn’t Muhammed offer a similar 10-year “Hudna” while he prepared to destroy the rival tribes?

And then broke the truce after a few years, as soon as he felt he could win. Truces with Hamas are worthless, and always seem to follow the pattern "we'll promise peace in exchange for X, and as soon as we have X then we'll violate all our promises"

Carter has to be this generation's Neville Chamberlain.

You insult the honorable PM Chamberlain. He eventually learned and declared war on Hitler, less than one year after holding up that paper.

Carter still doesn't get it.

Somebody’s got to step up and be a great politician and get things straightened out between Israel and Palestine. It may take a man of the greatness of Gandhi, representing the Palestinians, to pull it off. But something’s got to give. The Israeli/Palestinian conflict generates more ill will amongst the Muslims than anything else. Until it’s resolved, there will be no end to suicide bombers targeting Israel, Europe and America.

“”According to Umdat as-Salik, a medieval summary of Shafi’i jurisprudence, hudnas with a non-Muslim enemy should be limited to 10 years: “if Muslims are weak, a truce may be made for ten years if necessary, for the Prophet made a truce with the Quraysh for that long, as is related by Abu Dawud” (’Umdat as-Salik, o9.16).””

Mohammad also broke that truce after 2 years.

Carter is an ass, no question about it.

“Hamas” might agree to no more attacks for ten years, but what about all the splinter groups supported and encouraged by Hamas? Israel would be insane to agree to this. Unfortunately, that pretty much describes much of their present leadership.

Someone has confused days with years.

Any truce will be broken in days, and we know who will break it.

Any respite will be used to re-arm.

Rockets will fly before the ink is dry.

Someone needs to start engraving ol’ Jimmah’s name on the Nobel Peace Prize. They love to award it to morons and traitors.

A- You can’t trust anything a Muslim says in negotiations because they have the moral leeway to lie if it serves their interest.
B- Why only 10 years?

I would suggest that Israel remember what happened with the “10-year truce” that Mohammed made with Mecca.

This article is a little short of the details found in some others on this topic, which include the tidbit that Mashaal said that Hamas will never recognize Israel.

Do you negotiate with a rattlesnake? Do you “straighten things out” with a Great White Shark? Do you come to an agreement with a cobra? If you do, you’re an idiot.

We won’t kill you for ten years if you give us what we want. That’s not a deal....That’s a threat. Carter is sooooo dumb.

Let’s fire up the wayback machine and go back in time and ask WWSD - What would Sherman do?

(cool electronic cartoon sounds)

“War is the remedy our enemies have chosen, and I say give them all they want.”

“My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.”

“You cannot qualify war in harsher terms than I will.”

“I would make this war as severe as possible, and show no symptoms of tiring till the South begs for mercy.”

“The scenes on this field would have cured anybody of war.”

“War is at best barbarism. Its glory is all moonshine... War is hell.”

I wish one of our resident FR photoshopping experts would superimpose Carter's head on the Neville Chamberlain photo where he holds up a copy of the agreement signed with Hitler.

Okay. :)

Israel should give Palestinians their pre-1948 borders.
