Muslim scientists and clerics have called for the adoption of Mecca time to replace GMT, arguing that the Saudi city is the true centre of the Earth.
...SNIP...
The meeting also reviewed what has been described as a Mecca watch, the brainchild of a French Muslim.br>

So many jokes here...how about
Abdul "Is it time to blow ourselves up?"
Mohammed "Hold on Abdul. Let me check my MeccaWatch. When the tail of the camel strikes 12, THEN it will be time to kill the nonbelievers"

Notwithstanding the fact that the prime meridian is arbitrarily placed where it is due to historical events, this is ridiculous.

I first thought this would be a scrappleface article. Sadly it wasn’t. The Islamic tendency to try to co-opt anything it comes in contact with and claim that it was Islamic to begin with is alive and well. Islam, which has wallowed in the 16th century for centuries is now trying to claim that science itself is Islamic and that the foundations of science have always been laid out in the Koran for all to see. Now that they’ve co-opted science itself, they are claiming that science has proven that Mecca is the center of the earth (I must have missed when that earthshaking conclusion was published in a true scientific review journal). Leave it to this deluded group to take this nonsense one step further to use this as justification that GMT should be moved (GMT is an arbitrary line to begin with, you shouldn’t need scientific ‘proof’ to try to move it). What will Islam try to take next? The Chinese new year? My instinct is to ask what is it about these people that makes them believe that others will accept such nonsense without skipping a beat? Well, the BBC didn’t question it in their article....

The big sword is on the 5, and the little sword is on the 2... The meeting also reviewed what has been described as a Mecca watch, the brainchild of a French Muslim . The watch is said to rotate anti-clockwise and is supposed to help Muslims determine the direction of Mecca from any point on Earth.
OK , the anti clockwise part seems fairly consistent with Muslim logic..

Actually, and I think this is generous, but the book “The Rise of Modern Science: Islam, China and the West” credits Islamic societies as developing nearly on par with other cultures until about 1200 AD.
The author did say that they significantly slowed their pace of development prior to this.
The reason is that it is considered apostasy to pursue studies (theology, law, science) outside of the ideas in the Koran because it is “complete and perfect work”.

I am comforted to know that the Muslims don't want to take over the earth or change western civilization. /s
If we only new the full list of the things they would change, new year start/end, no Christmas or other Christian holidays, marriage as we know it, freedom for women as we know it, the ability to practice Christianity, our freedoms as we know them...
The U.S. Constitution would have to go.
Yep, let's just move as many of these people into our midst as we can, because it will not result in conflict over time. /s
Folks, as the muslim presence grows, their thought that their culture should dominate is only a matter of natural progression.
We are not talking about assimilation here.
If we believe in Christianity, then flooding our nation with non-believers becomes problematic. And with the cultural differences inherent, we're talking about serious trouble ahead IMO.

The goal is the same, whether they are taking over a country through immigration and population, or violently invading.
The goal is worldwide sharia law, with unbelievers either living in dhimmitude or dead.

Yeah, that’s why the Judeo-Christian cultures were/are able to pursue scientific enquiry, and still do, ethically.
Old texts aside, there are certain proscriptions that all humans know - like live vivisection, experimentation on humans, etc. We’ve done these things in history, but we all know they’re wrong.
