Sorry to ruin the fun, but an ice age cometh
The Australian ^ | April 23, 2008 | Phil Chapman

Posted on 04/22/2008 2:26:44 PM PDT by Dundee

THE scariest photo I have seen on the internet is www.spaceweather.com, where you will find a real-time image of the sun from the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory...

What is scary about the picture is that there is only one tiny sunspot.

Disconcerting as it may be to true believers in global warming, the average temperature on Earth has remained steady or slowly declined during the past decade, despite the continued increase in the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide, and now the global temperature is falling precipitously.

...cooled by about 0.7C in 2007. This is the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record and it puts us back where we were in 1930. If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over.

...The first sunspot appeared in January this year and lasted only two days. A tiny spot appeared last Monday but vanished within 24 hours. Another little spot appeared this Monday. Pray that there will be many more, and soon.

...The previous time a cycle was delayed like this was in the Dalton Minimum, an especially cold period that lasted several decades from 1790...

It is time to put aside the global warming dogma, at least to begin contingency planning about what to do if we are moving into another little ice age, similar to the one that lasted from 1100 to 1850...

There is no doubt that the next little ice age would be much worse than the previous one and much more harmful than anything warming may do. There are many more people now and we have become dependent on a few temperate agricultural areas, especially in the US and Canada. Global warming would increase agricultural output, but global cooling will decrease it...

If you were able to watch the sun in time-lapse photography over millions of years you would probably see it flicker like a fire does.

Hot and cold periods would mean fun times on Earth. The humans can do nothing about it except use technology to keep warm, unless the idiot environmentalists prevent us from using it.

Then we would lose our source of power like the Atlantians did in that documentary (or was that a cartoon? - I don't care.. good movie)

"the global temperature is falling precipitously. ...cooled by about 0.7C in 2007."

Let's play with some numbers here.

"They" say the average global air temperature near the Earth's surface increased 0.74 ± 0.18 °C during the hundred years ending in 2005. With the margin of error of minus 0.18 °C that 0.74°C becomes 0.56°C that the Earth's temperature has risen -- allegedly.

And this article says we have cooled 0.7°C which is a cooling from 0.56°C. Soooooooooo... the Earth in the past 100 years is actually 0.56°C - 0.7°C = -0.11°C.

The Earth in the past 100 years has cooled -0.11°C.

SPIN THAT MR. GORE AND ASS-LICKER JAMES HANSEN OF NASA!

There is a 12 year sun spot cycle. The sun is currently at its low point. The first sunspot occured on time in January. In December there were no sunspots at all. The winter was colder than usual. But the waxing cycle will bring on more sunspot activity.

Dammit! Start cranking CO2 everyone or we're gonna freeze!

My son and I worshiped Gaia and celebrated Earth Day:
1. We cut down four trees so we could extend the range in our shooting range to 100 yards.
2. We drove four wheeler ATVs excessively fast and for no reason except to burn gas and go fast.
3. We used two cycle smoking chain saws to cut down trees.
4. Painted a chicken house with 6 gallons of enamel paint thus releasing several pounds or VOCs and HAPS into the environment.
5. Ate refried beans and added beaucoup methane to the environment.
6. Did not die.

There is an 11 year sunspot cycle (actually, bit longer, part of a 22 to 23 year sunspot cycle), and this sucker is a year and a half overdue PLUS the GW people said it’d be bigger, better, wilder and greater than any batch of sunspots ever seen in human history.

Over the past decade and a half we've cut way back on irrigation through the application of pivoting irrigation systems and the use of no-ploug farming.

That's reduced the amount of greenhouse gases spewed into the atmosphere.

So, things cool down and we end up freezing to death in the dark.

OK....it’s not global warming, but global climate change. Have the fearmongers ever considered what an ecological disaster would arise should we ever manage to achieve global climate stasis?

We tried to have the state change Wisconsin license plate motto to “Global Warming...Please Let It Be So”, too long they said. Tried to shorten it to “GW,Please, LetIt Be So” No, democrats didn’t like it. Anyway, I’m not at all surprised our hopes will be dashed. Cold summer in Austrailia, colder in China, Siberia, Canada, South America, lingering winter here. We spent 10 partial winters in Brazil and this this January, their summer, we hardly needed a fan. Its cooling.
