Ideologies: Once in a while the truth accidentally tumbles out on global warming activists' real agenda. That's exactly what happened at the U.N., when Bolivia's leader called for ending capitalism to save the planet.
Delivering the keynote address at the United Nations forum on Indigenous People on Monday, Bolivia's President Evo Morales told the adoring crowd that "if we want to save our planet earth, to save life, to save mankind, we have a duty to put an end to the capitalist system."
Morales elaborated on that by calling for an end to "unbridled industrial development, extraction of natural resources, excessive consumption of goods and accumulation of waste."
More conveniently, he also demanded that trillions of dollars from the West be diverted to places like Bolivia, "to repair the earth."
Seldom has the environmentalist agenda to end the capitalist system been laid out so plainly.
But in reality, it's capitalism combined with the framework that enables it to flourish, like rule of law and property rights that has lifted billions of people out of poverty and improved the environment. Contrary to Morales' assertions, the most capitalist countries are also the cleanest.
According to a 2006 study by the Heartland Institute, free enterprise does more to protect the environment than state intervention.
"The nations that have the best track records on environmental protection and improvement are those with the highest amount of free-market capitalism," wrote Samuel Aldrich and Jay Lehr, in "Free Enterprise Protects the Environment."
Morales is a Marxist, so the environmental records of the communist and socialist systems he touts to save the earth are instructive.
After communism fell in Eastern Europe, some of the biggest revelations were about how vast the pollution was in countries where no one was permitted to own or...

This the geneticists will do by reducing human population from 6 or 7 billion to 200 million.
They do. They want America destroyed. Despots everywhere will rejoice and it’ll be “for your own good”.
Green on the outside and Red in the center..
But rotten to the core.
TIME magazine’s cover photo should’ve been a picture of Adolf Hitler at the podium, with the swastika on his armband replaced by a recycling symbol.
The envirofascist greenshirts turn my stomach.
The tin miners in Bolivia had a violent strike two years ago when Evo tried to send his goons to take over the mines. He is not against mining, just against letting anyone other than the gov’t getting any of the profits. Four of the nine districts in his country are trying to become autonomous because this guy wants to nationalize everything. The educated in his country realize they will be following in Venezulea’s footsteps if they let him get away with it.
He says that he has a science background, whereas most of Greenpeace have backgrounds in political activism. What made a difference for him was when Greenpeace came out against chlorine. He says that no studies have shown a danager from chlorine in our drinking water, and in fact it is instrumental in decreasing water-borne diseases in countries that use it. Greenpeace wants it out of the water. This would pretty clearly result in millions of human deaths. Greenpeace doesn't care.
The Left wants us dead.

Yeah because that communist system was so humanitarian. This guy’s been smoking the coca leaves.
Sounds like a good candidate for .308 Ballistic Cranial Surgery.
PING for the real agenda of environmentalism...
You did read my tag line didn’t you? :)
But hey....a body count of several hundred million...wrecked lives...wrecked societies...brainwashed slaves...what’s not to love about socialism??? Everybody (except for the elite few) is EQUALLY miserable, EQUALLY destitute, and usually EQUALLY dead at the end of the failed experiment. That’s FAIR, right?
The right people just haven’t been in charge...yeah, that’s it. That’s the ticket...the right people...
take a look...
The technical term is the Tragedy of the Commons.
This is absolutely the case. Its a shame too, because I believe there are real environmental concerns that should be addressed, perhaps even Global Warming. Its a shame that the hard Leftists get to use the problems as a proxy to push their agenda.
I’m a Ludwig von Mises fan from way back.
“...we have a duty to put an end to the capitalist system.”

That evil capitalism allowed folks to be successfull, now we must grab some of that success because our preferred socialism failed us.
That’s right! There are some very wise taglines out there- they often prompt me to research the citation and learn even more.
And, sadly, it's still that way now. According to the Blacksmith Institute, the 10 most polluted places on earth are in Azerbaijan, China, India, Peru, Russia, Ukraine and Zambia, all of which have long histories of communism, socialism or nationalist isolation, the very alternatives Morales proposes to replace capitalism.
Chernobyl's trees and wildlife are back, so even that wasn't nearly as catastrophic as portrayed. That accident** is still used by the enviro nuts as a lesson against nuclear power plants. (but nuclear is okay for France)
Damned Evos. Always pushing religion dressed up as science.
Love it! It’s added.
Yeah, I know, it sounds like tin-foil material.
But I think that's what's going on. At least I do now, given how I understand the state of the issue.
Hey, you know what will help? Voting for anybody but McCain in November. /sarc

Ecos choose Lenin’s birthday as Earth Day.
and not by chance.
This guy either didn’t get the memo,
or, like a lot of lefties, he’s been hanging around with “like minded” folk in their lefthanded circlejerks and thinking that he could say this stuff out loud.
“Please check my homepage for a plethora of them! I hadn’t seen the Mencken one in awhile - that’s going up there now :)”
