MEXICAN LABOR ESSENTIAL to U.S., HE SAYS

DALLAS - Mexican President Felipe Calderón defended immigrant workers and their contribution to the U.S. economy before a group of immigrant leaders meeting in Dallas on Tuesday afternoon, but also said Mexico needs to produce the type of jobs that will keep its people at home and end the painful separation of families between the two nations.

The American economy cannot run without Mexican labor.

Businesses can no longer pay livable wages and need illegal aliens who will work less than an American worker. We must except that the blue collar middle class worker is a concept of the past in our new economy. Get used to it!

“Businesses can no longer pay livable wages and need illegal aliens who will work less than an American worker.”

Sure they can pay. They did before. They just don’t want to. They make more money this way. Even Chertoff admits that.

The big business wants cheaper labor, naturally. Big business NGOs invent idea for the chattering classes to rationalize it such as “globalism” or “international cooperation” or “that is the way the economy is now.” New ones are “American workers won’t do carpentry” and such as touted by the likes of Clinton and Obama.

I don’t think anyone is denying the value of Mexican labor. However, I, and millions like me, are pi$$ed that they don’t bother to come here legally. Further, those who do come often have a chip on their shoulder that says they don’t want to assimilate into our culture and they don’t want to learn our language. If that’s the case, my advice: Stay in Mexico.

And all those many millions of US citizens not equipped for white collar professions will do what?

I take it you meant to say accept rather than except.

You're welcome!

In 1838, Senator John C. Calhoun of South Carolina said:

This [anti-slavery] agitation has produced one happy effect at least; it has compelled us to the South to look into the nature and character of this great institution, and to correct many false impressions that even we had entertained in relation to it. Many in the South once believed that it was a moral and political evil; that folly and delusion are gone; we see it now in its true light, and regard it as the most safe and stable basis for free institutions in the world. . . .

That's a good question. My fist post, of course, was sarcastic. Not everyone has the skills-set for IT/programming. Blue collar jobs, like auto mechanics and warehouse, pay about the same as they did 30 years ago, thanks mostly to uncontrolled illegal immigration.

Immigrant workers aren’t a problem, it’s the illegal aliens that have screwed everything up...

Another civil war could eventually happen in the U.S. because of all of the ongoing and increasing problems with illegal immigration.

Mexico needs to produce the type of jobs that will keep its people at home.

They should build a new inter sea canal across the isthmus of Tehuantepec. If the top guys weren't stealing so much they could fund it, spur the economy and funnel the unemployed southward for a change.

They are just showing how grateful they are that they can come into the US and get a job, free medical care, and other entitlements at the expense of American taxpayers. They will be fine future citizens of this country! sarc/

Listened to a pastor on O`Reilly the other night. He said the US has an obligation to take in EVERYONE in the world that wishes to come here, even if the numbers run in to the BILLIONS.

_______________

Hey, ‘technoman, everyone can’t be a ‘technoman’. Every society has its labor class. Some people like good honest labor. It’s good for you. You’re not going to change human nature no matter how ‘technical’ you get. We’re not all like you, and don’t want to be.

Get used to it.

Any business that can’t pay a decent wage to a US citizen has no business being in business. A good days work deserves a good wage. Or do you really think you know best how others should earn a living?

I’m sure not. A Mexican, even if illegal, deserves good pay for good work. That simple. So do US citizens, so does any human being. They are the rich and the pseudo-rich’s slave class. Elitists are too selfish to be legal or fair and see anyone they can be superior over as their commodity to trade, use, abuse, toss aside. We’re ALL peasants to them. Many of these people who have the cheap illegal nannies, gardners, etc, probably couldn’t afford legal help. And if they can’t afford it, they shouldn’t have it. Just like the rest of us.

Traitors like Bill Gates will try to eliminate “write collar” jobs too, by pushing congress to keep upping the H1B cap even when unemployment is going up.

The American economy cannot run without Mexican labor.

But if illegal Mexicans are deported and repatriated....then they are a "burden" on the Mexican government.(a recent complaint coming from south of the border) ...go figure ....
