Netherlands: State Secretary Refuses to Lock up Asylum-Seekers (feeding the aslyumseekerindustry)

THE HAGUE, 24/04/08 - The Lower House wants it to be made possible to lock up asylum-seekers so that they do not disappear into the illegal circuit. But Justice State Secretary Nebahat Albayrak is refusing.

The Netherlands is sticking to the policy of not locking up asylum-seekers during the asylum procedure, said Albayrak in the Lower House yesterday. The MPs were holding an interlocutory debate prompted by the disappearance of 300 Chinese asylum-seekers.

Between mid-March and mid-April, 770 Chinese suddenly applied to the application centre for asylum-seekers in Ter Apel. They had responded to a false rumour that Crown Prince Willem-Alexander would ascend the throne and shower residence permits around on the occasion.

Probably the Chinese had been living illegally in the Netherlands for years. The Lower House had therefore asked Albayrak to lock them up, so that they could be deported. The state secretary rejected this request. Now it emerges that 300 of them have vanished without trace.

A Lower House majority now wants the law changed to prevent a repetition in the future. Christian democratic (CDA) MP Wim van de Camp considers it "sad" that the present laws are inadequate to solve the problem of illegals. The Lower House must according to Van der Camp have a "fundamental review" of this.

Conservative (VVD) MP Henk Kamp, who had requested the debate, also wants the law changed, though he suggested that Albayrak could also have locked up the Chinese under the existing law. "The state secretary did not want this. That was a political decision. She has now lost the first 300 Chinese. The other 450 will follow in the next two weeks. Even if the illegals fall into her lap, the state secretary will let them go," said Kamp.

Kamp submitted a motion of no confidence against Albayrak. Party for Freedom (PVV) and independent MP Rita Verdonk supported this VVD request for her to resign. But the other parties rejected the motion.

Albayrak stuck to her guns. "The principle is that we do not lock people up during the asylum procedure and this will stay that way," she said. Albayrak stressed that all the Chinese's fingerprints had been taken. If the foreign police or Labour Inspectorate come across the vanished asylum-seekers, the government can then detain them in aliens custody ahead of deportation.

In the Netherlands there is a whole industry created around illegals and asylumseekers. Lawyers, wellfareworkers and so on make a lot of money with these people. This minister's party, the PvdA (labor) is of course benefitting a lot from these people. So of course she keeps them in the country and doesn't want them deported. And you can guess by her name what her real intentions are...

“But Justice State Secretary Nebahat Albayrak is refusing.”

Hell yes, if I had a name like Albayrak I would also allow every Muslim into the country and stay as long as he wanted.
