Condi Rice, State Dept: Dismantling the War on Terror One Word at a Time

Sons of Islam everywhere, the jihad is a duty - to establish the rule of Allah on earth and to liberate your countries and yourselves from America’s domination and its Zionist allies, it is your battle - either victory or martyrdom. Sheikh A. Yassin

According to Robert Spencer, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is revamping the State Department Lexicon with the orders to eliminate the words jihad and jihadi.

The argument, of course, is the old Streusand/Guirard claim that by using the word jihad, we’re validating the jihadist claim to be waging jihad. Of course, it’s ridiculous to think that the U.S. State Department carries any validating authority within the Islamic world to determine what is Islam and what isn’t. This would be the first time that unbelievers have set the meaning of Islamic theology for Muslims.

We’ve never come across this before. Forbidding people to use the very words your enemies used to declare war on you?

The federal government continues to ask Americans to support the WoT--as they should do.

However, when that same government sends signals that the feds aren't as serious as they're asking their citizens to be, there's going to be problems.

Not securing the border is one signal that the government is more concerned about PC than terror.

This week's discovery that State Department employees can't use the words "jihad" and "jihadi" is another sign that the government is too PC-conscious.

In case there's any doubt in your mind - it's jihad. Take the killing and the jihad out of Islam and you cut its head off.

I agree with your point about securing the borders, but not about the jihad thing.

Refusing to call it a “jihad” is exactly the same as refusing to call them “suicide bombers”: it is using the language properly, and in this case, powerfully. Neuro-Linguistic Programming is a very powerful thing, and the way that we use the language can often determine our attitudes and beliefs.

Condi is merely using language as another weapon in her arsenal in the WOT. I think it’s a brilliant move.

Just another reason why Jorge and Rice will be condemned to the dustbin of history as total failures who lack the courage or intellect of their convictions.

The enemy is ISLAM - I-S-L-A-M.

There I said it. I feel much better now.

If you thinks PC to not refer to terrorists as holy warriors for Islam, continue to use the term they identify themselves as.
