They said that the Carlyle Group, an $81 billion firm which owns hundreds of companies, is using a flawed system to identify and fire workers suspected of being in the country illegally, and that the system has left employees living in fear.

Howie Carr said that the day after Dunkin Donuts announced the new policy that the entire staff at the Dunkins in Weelessley was gone.
I’ll be switching my custom to Dunkin.
Only the ones that shouldn't be working there anyway, so what's the problem?
The best coffee ever. IMHO.
“the system has left employees living in fear.”
...I like illegals living in fear! That’s what living “on the lamb” is supposed to be. Constant fear!
i totally agree. DD coffee rules.
Every pizzeria does.
Oh, cry me a freaking {Rio Grande} river! Tell them to take a leap on a rolling donut!
The best coffee ever. IMHO
...absolutely! I couldn’t agree more. It’s coffee. Starbucks is burnt crap. Panera is weak metrosexual dishwater.
Last year I stopped at a McDonald’s in a small town in northwestern Texas. Thank God they had a bilingual speaker on that shift to take my order. My country is becoming more and more foreign to me every day.
Living in fear of what? Those in this country legally have nothing to fear.
There are places that get my business and places I will not even pull into the parking lot, all based on their hiring/non-hiring of illegals.
May not make much difference to them but it makes me feel better.
DD’s coffee is a special blend made by New England Coffee in Malden MA. You should smell my neighborghood when they roast the beans.
Speaking of illegals, story in Bos Globe the other day
about an Irish immigrant, apparently illegal,
who was at the Ray Davies show at the Orpheum. He wanted to buy a beer and the bartender asked him to show ID. He had a passport but it wasn’t stamped—rather than getting caught, he fled (thus giving up his $60 orchestra seat...)
Ah here it is (used “immigrant Davies” in search...)
Bartenders serve up drinks, customs checks
Policy at 2 halls called unfair to immigrants
Give the Globe credit for actually using ILLEGAL:
“All the 33-year-old illegal immigrant wanted was a beer. After nearly a decade in this country, the Irish national knew to steer clear of police and federal agents. But he was stunned this month when a bartender at the Orpheum refused to serve him because his passport lacked a US Customs stamp.
“The man grabbed his passport and fled, abandoning a $60 orchestra seat at a Ray Davies concert and igniting a debate over a new policy that one of the country’s largest concessionaires imposed at the Orpheum and at another popular live-music venue in Boston.
“Officials at the Boston Culinary Group said they started checking for customs stamps last year to ensure that passports are authentic, not to enforce immigration law.
“But critics of the policy say that the stamp is no guarantee of validity and that checking for it is frightening to immigrants.
“’I said, ‘Who are you, immigration?’ the man, a construction worker who spoke on a condition of anonymity because he fears deportation, said he asked the bartender. ‘It was a shock.’
“Daniel F. Pokaski - chairman of Boston’s Licensing Board, which issues alcohol licenses - said he had never heard of local bartenders checking for a customs stamp before serving a customer.
“’I wouldn’t recommend it if, in fact, it does have the side effect of denying illegal immigrants the right to have a cocktail,’ he said. ‘I just think you’re really taking a class of people, and based on the lack of a customs stamp you’re denying them service. I’m not sure if I’m comfortable with that.’”
Let me get this straight, it is up to the Federal Government to be the ONLY ones to check immigration status. Yet many cities forbid their locals to work with the Feds, and the Fed say that they do not have enough people to check everyone. So in other words for anyone to check immigration status is somehow racist; to demand English only is racist; yet to have a group that has a name The Race that to pushes Spanish as a acceptable language is not racist.
I posted our signs last month. In Spanish too. %^)
i have been to Colombia SA and toured Juan Valdez’ coffee farms and various roasters there. DD is the closest that i have found in the US, irrespective of cost. i bet it smells heavenly up where you are : )
It’s a screwed up world when donut shops need immigration policies.

Ditto here.
Just walk in and ask the manager, “What is that man doing working here?”
I don’t understand what the problem is either.
Just round ‘em up and get them out of here!
Might also mention Absolut's ad in support of Aztlan will also affect Starbuck's coffee sales.
BTT!
Krispy Kreme rules!
All else is gay yankee stuff.
Americans are a humane people. As such we must provide the criminal invaders free flights out.
I daresay because the guy was a white, European.
Wow. I was almost afraid to click on this since I love my D&D coffee. Nice!
My favorite Mcdonald's experience was in El Paso. I finally had to accept that I was going to be shortchanged so that my blood pressure would stay down.
I’m sorry, but their premise is full of holes.
But the leftist Federal government is standing down at the border waving through a conga-line of millions, to the point where other leftist controlling major cities are declaring sanctuary zones for the same illegal aliens..All this while the Federal government does nothing.
Meanwhile the President of the United States is planning the next, upcoming White House Cinco De Mayo celebration.
It bombed in the Boston area. A few shops were opened (Medford, also Saugus on Rt 1) and some convenience stores stocked some Kreme products (I used to get them from a Hess in N. Reading, MA) but quickly after some initial buzz, they closed down. The one in Saugus (adjacent to Kelly's Roast Beef) is now a bank. Dunkins rule around here, and the coffee may be why.

(I like Tim Horton's for a change of pace--up in Canada or parts of NY... a few locations in Prov RI/south coast MA area)
“i totally agree. DD coffee rules.”
Tasteless, overpriced dishwater.
My local Mobil station serves 6 flavors of Green Mountain coffee, freshly ground and brewed and... It costs 77 cents for the 20 ounce cup. The dark roast has actual coffee flavor and I can mix the cream and sugar the way I want.
“Krispy Kreme rules! All else is gay yankee stuff.”
Krispy Kreme has dark roast with real coffee flavor (not burnt like Starbucks). Too bad we don’t have any KKs in New Hampshire.
More reason to avoid the stinky, liberal town by the toxic harbor. Plus, those folks talk funny!
