Turning tide in Indiana (media to GOP you have already lost now drop dead)
Boston Globe ^ | April 26, 2008 | Charlie Savage

FORT WAYNE, INDIANA - Throughout her life, Linda Eggert, a 51-year-old stay-at-home mother, has been a staunch Republican. But on May 6, when the marathon Democratic primary comes to Indiana, Eggert will cast her ballot for Hillary Clinton. more stories like this

* Obama making plans to attract voters and money for November * Obama, Clinton spend time in low-priority states * Poll: Obama, Clinton running tight race in Indiana poll * Pelosi: Clinton, Obama sharing the ticket not a good idea * Harvard Survey: Young voters favor Obama *

"Everybody is kind of rethinking their politics because of everything that is going on," Eggert said, citing her growing concerns about Iraq and the economy. She added, "Do I think [Indiana] could go Democrat for once in November? I hope it could."

Long an afterthought in presidential politics, Indiana Democrats - who haven't delivered their state in the general election since 1964, and haven't had a meaningful say in picking their party's nominee since 1968 - see the growing excitement over the contest between Clinton and Barack Obama as an opportunity to build up muscle in places where the party's national reach had atrophied.

The interest in the Clinton-Obama fight, they say, is helping to shift political identities. Thousands of people are signing up as new voters - 383,954 Hoosiers have registered since the 2006 election - while some people who have always voted Republican are deciding that they might just be comfortable casting a ballot for a Democrat.

"Throughout her life, Linda Eggert, a 51-year-old stay-at-home mother, has been a staunch Republican."

And I'm a staunch Democrat. These articles are so tiresome, predictable bull$hit that you'd think even liberals would get bored repeating 'em. It's also the same crap you hear on call-in shows, jam packed with rodent activists.

Before the Pennsylvania Primary, the MSM was reporting that all those Republicans registering as Democrats were simply Republicans enamored with Obama who wanted to vote for him.

Then on election night, Hillary won by 10 points.

Once again, in Indiana, Republicans are registering as Democrats. This is obviously the result of Operation Chaos. Why is the Media afraid to report it?

The problem here is that they won't report it honestly because it gets in the way of their propagandizing. Speaking of Operation Chaos, there's some chaos in our own camp, because there isn't universal agreement on whom to support in switching parties. Some Republicans are voting for Obama believing him the most beatable in November while others are supporting Hillary. It may turn out we're cancelling each others votes and the Dems themselves are largely perpetuating Operation Chaos honestly.

The idea isn’t to pick a beatable candidate.

Its to keep the blood feud between Hussein and Hitlery going until Denver and to guarantee there’s no hope of a first-ballot win for either of them.

The idea is to cause the Democrat Party to implode.

Why are so many people here so myopic about this? They’re allowing their CDS to blur clear vision.

The media aren't afraid to report it, they are just too stupid to see it.
See, you have to understand the prism through which they look at everything.
They believe with every fiber of their beings that the Democrats, Obama in particular, are electrifying the public, attracting new voters and converting Republicans. They believe that Leopards are waking up and brushing off their spots, capitalists are finding Marx, pro-military families are abandoning the troops, all for Obama and the Democrats.

The media really believes this, because that's the only way they know how to view things. They cannot fathom people not tuning in, turning on, and dropping out to the melodic tones of Obama's deep baritone. Surely everyone must be.

They believe that if Republicans are voting in the Democrat primary, then surely they must be enchanted with the candidate for whom they are voting. For these media liberal elites, voting is not a strategic exercise, it is proclamation of love and devoting for the candidate to whom they are betroved.

Never mind that Linda in Indiana is voting for Hillary, not Obama. To the elite liberal journalist, that an odd anomaly, but it doesn't matter so much. All that matters is they are becoming involved with the democratic process, or more to the point, the Democrat process. To the media elite, that is already half the battle, and as they keep insisting, if they vote for a Democrat in the primary then surely they will be voting for the Democrat in the general.

Ha ha. Thats a nice dream, but nothing like that will happen.

Where does this storm and warfare nonsense come from anyway?
Is it from too many Sci Fi movies? I mean honestly, where?

What WILL happen is that the democrats will have a hotly contested nomination, and they will resolve their differences to go on and fight their real enemy.

By the way, Indiana is an open primary. Republicans can vote in the Democrat race, and believe me, they will be in mass. Hillary is going to swamp Obama by better than 20 points. It is going to be a bloodbath, and the Democrats are going to freak. Operation Chaos is going to throw the Democrats into a tailspin.

I keep thinking most of these shows should have an automatic dump as soon as the caller utters that phrase, “I was a lifelong...” The person is ALWAYS a plant. C-Span is the absolute worst. Some Black guy called in on the Republican line a few weeks ago, identified himself as such, but lo and behold, he had only positives for rodent candidates and ultraleft positions.

An infamous one from a decade ago when Sen. Jesse Helms appeared with one caller praising the Senator and just as everyone was all smiles around the table, just as they’re about to hang up, the “plant” drops the bomb, “Thanks, Senator, for all you’ve done in keeping down the ni**ers !” You can guess the reaction and the look of absolute shock on Helms’s face.

Can you imagine if Ted Kennedy appeared on the program and a Republican plant praised him to the nth degree and then dropped, “Senator, you’re a testament to the dangerous combination of unlimited wealth, sycophantic media worship can do to prop up an unaccountable buffoonish, incoherent, alcoholic, murdering Marxist tyrant. You’re the ultimate nightmare of the Founding Fathers.” That would NEVER happen. They’d never allow it.

Those programs need to get rid of the live callers, go exclusively to submitting emails, that way the hosts can get rid of the plants, loaded questions, and political talking points.

Oh, no, I understand what you’re saying, but picking the most beatable candidate is also a part of it, too (along with perpetuating the feud). I do hope the rodent convention and activities out in the streets of Denver make Chicago ‘68 look like a Sunday afternoon picnic. ;-D

The differences that have been brought to a head by these two particular candidates are not ones that can be resolved. They are identity issues, race and gender. Unless all Democrats are going to transform into mulatto hermaphrodites at the convention, they are in for some real problems come November.

It has been a while since I lived in Indiana. But, I think if anything the state would be getting more Red. After all the Unions that had such strength are in decline. The Auto workers and the Steel workers had had their ranks seriously depleted by economic changes. Gary and the surrounding region is in sharp decline. There are very few Hispanics moving in, except around Elkhart. The Dem’s did enjoy a resurgence in southern Indiana which used to be Conservative Southern Dem, But in spite of the ‘06 elections have plainly changed to the GOP. I think some of this confusion is caused by some of the German ancestry voters who seem to drift back and forth causing a drift in Midwestern politics. But if I know Indiana, in this state they will come one to the GOP in the presidential election.

if it implodes, will it be destroyed? it would still have its base; hard left, blue collar, ethnics, and others who would never abandon the democrat party.

it seems that it would just regroup and come back as a different monster with the help of the manipulative hand of the mainstream media. it would just have a different name, still filled with wannabe totalitarian scu&bags. (please forgive the expletive, but it’s the most appropriate.)

the question is, if it implodes, what form would the reincarnation take?

Well, the Democrat party isn't ever going to “implode”. (Believe me, the GOP is far more likely to do that first.
We have far more stubborn stupids than they do. Just look at all the people we have threatening to vote 3rd party or not at all instead of supporting McCain.)

The idea really is for the Democrats to be in such disarry that they can't get it together for a few election cycles.
What it really means is infighting, recrimination, party hacks cannibalising each other. It will take them a a good generation or more to throw out the orchestrators of their defeat — Howard Dean, the Clintons, Pelosi and Reid — and find functional leadership. This, I think, is what it means for them to “implode”. A total collapse of leadership and unity. We don't so much want to destroy the party known as “Democrats” so much as we want to destroy this particular incarnation of it, and this particular bunch of degenerates running it.

But even short of that, so long as Democrats can't agree — and they can't and won't this election — then enough marginal Democrats — Reagan Democrats and such — will peel off, giving the GOP the victory at the margins — where elections are fought and won.

McCain, like him or not, will win 60% of the vote in Indiana. And nationally, 55% of the vote. Early on, I was worried. The results in Iowa seemed to confirm that the democrat base was fired up and the gop was in big trouble. Well, the tide has turned. Now the world is seeing obama for who he truly is. A racist with ties to a terrorist. A socialist who can't answer a simple question in a debate.
Right now, many of the ‘new’ democrat voters are Reagan democrats that have sat out a lot of primaries. They're voting against either hillary or obama, not for them. In open primary states, the independents are voting democrat because it's the only race of consequence. And they're voting against either hillary or obama. McCain would beat hillary in PA. Most of the small town democrats that voted for her, did so because they hated obama more.

Indiana voters are hard to figure out in advance. Long time ago I remember that the AFL-CIO guys decided the only way to get the attention of the politicians was to do a zig zag across the voting machine. They'd vote for a Dem, then a Rep, then a Dem, then a Rep.

I don't recall the year but I know Vance Hartke knew about it. He got in the Senate ~ his buddies on either side of him on the ticket elected.

Here we have several hundred thousand Republicans signing on to vote in the Dem primary. Do they hate the Hildabeast or Obamasama?

We wait with bated breath eh!

What you missed when living there is that the electorate, in general, over a long period of time, is pretty evenly balanced in terms of the two parties. It doesn't take much of a shift to toss everything to one or the other.

Neighboring Ohio and Michigan face this situation as well.

Illinois has no problem like that. The Dems there control the state simply by ramping up their vote fraud machinery. If the Dem factions are having a hissy-fit the Reps might win some every now and then, but usually only with someone who ends up in prison, or who ought to have gone there.

My prediction is that Indiana Reps will vote in the Dem primary in record numbers, and mostly AGAINST the Hildabeast.

The Republicans who registered as Democrats in Pennsylvania DID vote more for Obama than Clinton, despite Operation Chaos’ claims. Check the exit polls (unless Rush’s instructions were to lie to the exit pollsters and tell them that they weren’t supporting Hillary, which seems counterproductive and not anything I heard him suggest).

Also, talk with committeemen about how many Republicans in Pennsylvania were switching to vote for Hillary because they want her instead of McCain.

It’s not all good news and Operation Chaos, if it’s anything like Pennsylvania. But Rush is a good showman, and I think much of the effect is intangible, not in the actual votes.

Fortunately the MSM wants to believe and to proliferate the ‘Republicans see the light and worship Obama’ story.

Also fortunately, it appears that the Dems, candidates, & party leaders, prefer to read the MSM articles and remain unaware of the media that they should be reading.

There are only 2 of them. One of them is guaranteed a first ballot win.

John Edwards has about 29 pledged delegates, and his name will be placed in nomination at the convention. If things remain the same until then, it will be very tempting for many superdelegates to throw their vote to him, thus avoiding a first ballot suicide vote, and empowering all the delegates to vote for whomever they prefer on the second ballot.

i often wondered how a reagan democrat could vote for any of the collectivist thugs in the democrat party. could it be that there aren’t many of them left? i don’t think there are and i think a victory at the margins is not possible because of that and that hillary will be the shoe in regardless of democrat party divisions; the divisions aren’t really deep. it’s really a family fight, where outsiders are not welcome and in the end the family will be even more close than before.
