THE crew of a Spanish fishing boat seized by pirates off Somalia have been freed...
The Playa de Bakio trawler has been taken to "safer waters", escorted by a Spanish warship, and the government is making plans to repatriate the 13 Spaniards and 13 Africans, she said.
Speaking at a press conference, she did not indicate the circumstances in which the crew were released, or whether a ransom had been paid.
Spanish news media said earlier a ransom of 1 million euros...had been demanded, and negotiations were taking place at a London hotel.
The 76-metre trawler and its crew were seized on April 20 while fishing for tuna off Somalia by pirates armed with grenade launchers.
A Spanish surveillance plane was also sent to the French military base in neighbouring Djibouti to carry out reconnaissance.
De la Vega said the government has taken steps to ensure "a similar situation does not taken place again".

Thats just great, they paid them a million euros to make sure it won’t happen again. I think they just bought themselves anouther hostage taking.
I am fairly certain that at least some of these kidnappings are being carried out by Mohammedan terrorists to raise money for ops in Somalia.
Should we call them yoots or muslims ?
islam and piracy, hand in glove, interesting discussion here:

Yep! should of stormed the boat and shot the pirates like the French did.
Thanks geo.
The French didn’t storm the boat, they paid the ransom and bagged the bad guys after the fact.
Let’s call them dead
