Obama has twice apologized since implying that U.S. troops had died in vain, telling a rally crowd in Ames, Iowa, on Sunday, "We ended up launching a war that should have never been authorized, and should never been waged, and on which we have now spent $400 billion, and have seen over 3,000 lives of the bravest young Americans wasted."

Yes we should get energy self sufficient, but Brazil uses sugar to make ethanol. Our country and the world however depends on our corn and wheat so we should stop using food for fuel.

It is just stupid. Sugar cane can not be made into bread or fed to beef and hogs to make more food. So Brazil can use sugar to get free from gas to run their cars, but we need to do it in another way.

We have the potential to get oil if we want and should do it without making ourselves starve. We are the US and we can do anything we put our minds to.. the operative word being minds.

Lets be sensible not stupid. Most of your post makes great sense but Brazil is not the way to go. Corn and wheat are far more necessary for food than gas.

I never said America should make ethanol from sugar, corn or anything else now did I...I did say, that America should do whatever she can to get off foreign oil dependence.
And there are certainly many other ways that we can but have neglected to do! And Brazil is an excellent example of what a country can do using what resources a country has.
