Ring of fire ....

Everyone OK?
Wow wonder how far that one was felt, and hope everyone is ok, my thoughts and prayers goes out to those effected by this earthquake...
Ping.
An earthquake measuring about 4.8 on the Richter scale shook the seabed off the northern tip of Vancouver Island Sunday afternoon.
The Pacific Geoscience Centre says the quake moved the earth at a depth of about 10 kilometres and wasn't enough to set off a tsunami warning.
The closest point of land to the quake was Port Hardy on the northwest tip of Vancouver Island.
Stephanie Thompson, the front desk clerk at Port Hardy's Seagate Hotel, says she didn't feel a thing but did notice the lights flickering for a few seconds around the same time as the quake.
An earthquake measuring between 3.5 and 5.4 on the Richter scale is often felt, but rarely causes damage to property.
I’ve noticed that in the past 5 days there seems to have been a lot of 3 - 4.2 earthquakes in western North America (I’m not considering Alaska or California, of course). There have been several 4+ in Nevada, several 4+ off the coast of Oregon and now one near Vancouver.
Is it just me, or is this more than just the usual background shaking?
We’ve been rolling here in Kentucky too.
Thanks.
I don’t think this was “the big one”.
LOL.
It's not just you. It's you, and me. And maybe one other person. And his friend. Maybe his Mom too. And his friends Mom. And his Mom's Friend. And her dentist.
;-)
And his dentist’s wife? And his wife’s cousin?
her (dentist)
oops
I liked your answer anyway. Sorry I botched the addition.
That sounds serious. Can it be reattached? :')
These are kind of small. Some MSM type said they might be precursors, but that is rare. Aftershocks are ordinary. The big one will strike with no warning, just save it all up and let go at once. Then aftershocks for a couple weeks.
Why would you “ not considering Alaska or California, of course “ ?
For how long were aftershocks from the 1964 Alaska quake felt?
You didn’t botch it.
Both him and her have a dentist.
To say nothing of the silence from the logical-geological experts.
The end of the world has to happen eventually, possibly.
:-D
All of Canada's Sea Bed Engineers have been summoned to study exactly that question.
There are so many earthquakes in the 3 - 4.5 range in parts of Alaska and California that almost nobody takes any notice, beyond the geologists.
While I have been typing this reply, there was probably one quake in California, and three in Alaska. Perhaps I exaggerate, though.
Alaska and California are the States we hear about regarding continuous earth quakes, therefore it seems normal when they happen there.
Don’t know, but the aftershocks from the 7.3 a few years ago came for a couple weeks and eventually dropped below 3 which is probably normal, but it’s hard to say they ever ended since they get quakes in that area all the time.
They don’t really stop?
Oh, yuck.
Just now...a big one in Mexico City!

A 5.0 or less earthquake 150 miles from nowhere is nothing to be concerned about, but thank you for your prayers.
Unless it’s over about 5.5, it’s nothing to worry about. Broken dishes, pictures falling off the walls, improperly secured cabinets tipping over, that kind of thing.
Just FYI, I was in Costco in Victoria at the time, and the lights didn’t even swing.
Yes.
Until it isn't.
