Rev. Jackson heads to food-strapped Haiti

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti, April 27 (UPI) -- The Rev. Jesse Jackson and several leaders of Florida's Haitian community arrived in Haiti Sunday to study the country's food crisis, Haitian radio reported.

Jackson and others are expected to discuss food-price inflation with Haitian leaders, according to officials of his Rainbow Push Coalition.

Protests over spiking food prices left at least seven people dead this month and prompted lawmakers to oust Prime Minister Jacques Edouard Alexis.

On Sunday, Ericq Pierre, a former senior adviser with the Inter-American Development Bank, was named Alexis' successor.

I always heard they like dark...

Never mind! Say, didn't Bill Clinton use the American military to solve this problem back in 1994?

As fat as he’s become he shouldn’t be asking where the food is.

Maybe they'll eat him. God knows he's fed on the body politic for so long himself.

Here’s a concept - how about helping American’s with the skyrocketing cost of food. And here’s another - how about those third world hell holels pull themselves up by their bootstraps and start making life better for themselves rather than whining for someone else to carry them. Seems I heard a similar little tidbit somewhere about teaching a man to fish.

OK, so J.J. is going to go over there, make a couple of speeches about how all their problems are caused by whitey and by capitalism, then leave...

This is suppose to help them how?
