Sources: Roger Clemens had 10-year fling with country star Mindy McCready (started when she was 15)

Roger Clemens carried on a decade-long affair with country star Mindy McCready, a romance that began when McCready was a 15-year-old aspiring singer performing in a karaoke bar and Clemens was a 28-year-old Red Sox ace and married father of two, several sources have told the Daily News.

The revelations could torpedo claims of an unsullied character that are central to the defamation suit Clemens filed Jan. 6 against his former personal trainer Brian McNamee. Vivid details of the affair could surface in several media projects that McCready is involved with - including a documentary that begins filming today in Nashville, a new album and a reality show.

Now we know why Roger took steroids all those years.

Yeah, I know...I was exaggerating a bit. He was born in 1962, so the affair would have been about 1990.

" . . . my sons - Koby, Kory, Kacy and Kody . . . "

Drug abuse, statutory rape and now admitted child abuse.

What did those kids ever do to him?

A mugshot of the not-so-sultry chanteuse after she was booked by the Florida cops for violating probation and then shipped back to Tennessee.

A little different, sans air brushes and make-up, no?

A sad statement about the Rocket's ego, for him to have to inflict the "K" obsession of baseball pitchers on his children.

I don’t follow baseball — and I think having Congress investigate this steroid business is inexplicable — so I really don’t know anything about Clemens except what I have seen on the news during the hearings. I am curious to know why you so sure that Clemens is guilty. Sounds like this girl may be less than a credible informant.

Relationship is IMPLIED to mean sex.

Right. I'm sure he was just helping the poor girl with her homework.

The previous comment is joke and not intended to reflect my actual opinion of Clemens. Your mileage may vary.

MacReedy in 1997, when she was 22.

Don’t forget all those fedex boxes full of cash he’s been sending to her to over the years. He’s been one of the highest paid players in baseball for many years.
I don’t think those were just out of the godness of his heart cause he liked her singing and was a family friend. Sounds like hush money.
I love the story about how he sent her dad a set of golf clubs. “Hey, thanks for letting me use your teen daughter as my mistress. Here are some Callaways.”

If these allegations are true, we're talking about Statutory Rape.

Not necessarily. Laws vary by state. She was 15, some states that's "old enough", althoug I'd think not many. Remember too that she was 15 in 1990, and many states have raised the age since then.

In any event, the statute of limitations likely has expired since 1992 or 93 when she was indeed "old enough" in most any state.

FWIW, in the English common law, and the early days of our Republic, the age was 10 to 12. But most places began raising it in the late 1800s. It still varies by state, and there are often "age difference" exceptions to the general law. For example, in Texas the age is 17, but if someone has sex with a 14 to 16 y/o AND is less than 3 years older, it's a defense to prosecution. In other states it's an exemption in the definition of the crime. Age of Consent

OFf one is contemplating following his example, it might be best to check the links for your state in the above Wiki article.

Who isn't to say she wasn't already a loon when he met her. I mean, he was 28 and she was 15. Sounds like she's had issues for some time. Very unstable personality. Probably why Clemens continued it. Some crazy teenager willing to party with him whenever he wanted to keep it secret from his wife and media.

And if he doesn't want this coming out from her, he's going to have to be sending her a whole lot of fedex packages for many years to come. When a story starts breaking like this, the 7 figure book deals start flying in.

The same, way, doubtless, you arrived by your equally unsubstantiated (at least) decision that he is not: by what we've been presented thus far, in stories such as the one referenced above.

It's an online message board, not an American court of law. There's no "burden of proof" or "innocent until proven guilty," hereabouts; it's all simple, straightforward opinionizing -- no more, no less. You've been here for eight years now, according to your profile; you shouldn't need that explained to you, by this point. Breathe. ;)

This is all hearsay. Clemens is a world-class athlete, a giant amongst men. He has been putting up with this BS his whole career. He stared down that weakling Mike Piazza; chucked a shard of a bat at him, and Piazza couldn’t do anything but sit there and take a load in his pants. That’s a real athlete. We need more of those kinds these days.

Clemens' bat-throwing rage, his bulging neck veins and his proclivity for head-hunting are all likely due to an over abundance of various types of hormones circulating within his system.

He's a walking advertisement for the pharmaceutical industry.

This "giant" gets his X-factor from a bottle.

Happened in Florida according to the article. The age there is 16, but I'm sure his wife and kids don't mind...

Making a statement regarding a criminal act would be a losing propostion for a newspaper. (public figure or not)

They can’t say he committed statutory rape with a 15 year old girl so the newspaper implies.

Honestly it is hard to find a good guy in any of this. Slease is on all parties in that mess.
