The age of Reagan, born out of the center's collapse in the '60s and '70s, has, thanks to George W. Bush, finally lost its relevance, except as a nostalgic touchstone of bygone Republican glory.

What makes this article so silly is its failure to appreciate that ideas matter. Reagan stood for eternal truths in politics and economics -- truths first revealed by the likes of Aristotle, Hobbes, Locke, Constant, Adam Smith, Hayek, von Mises, etc. Reaganism is no fleeting political fad -- so long as Republican politicians remain true to their principles.

I’d say that conservatism is a spent force in the GOP. If McCain becomes President (and that’s beginning to look likely...) he also becomes head of the GOP. Do you think he’s going to tolerate any conservatives in policy making positions?
I don’t think so...
It will probably take 12-20 years for conservatives to find a new home.
