Before Sunday, John McCain hadnt ventured into the controversy surrounding the comments made by Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., Barack Obamas former pastor. Mr. McCain even asked Republicans in North Carolina not to broadcast an ad that questioned Mr. Obamas connection to Reverend Wright.
But Mr. McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee, shifted his tone in Florida on Sunday, reports Michael Cooper of The New York Times.
But Mr. McCain took a different approach at a news conference here when he criticized Mr. Wright for, as the senator paraphrased him, comparing the United States Marine Corps with Roman legionnaires who were responsible for the death of our Savior, I mean being involved in that and for saying that Al Qaeda and the American flag were the same flags.
Mr. McCain said that he did not believe that Mr. Obama, Democrat of Illinois, shared those views and that he was still against the advertisement in North Carolina. But he suggested that Mr. Obama had made the subject fair play by declaring in an interview shown over the weekend on Fox News Sunday that questions about Mr. Wright were a legitimate political issue.
Rev. Wright, speaking at an N.A.A.C.P. fund-raiser in Detroit Sunday, remained unapologetic for remarks he made from the pulpit of the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.

Give Rev. Wright a sufficient amount of rope and . . . . !!!!
Lame McCain has terrible terrible political instinct. Where is his mojo???
Gosh, I wish Hillary was the Republican nominee and she would have beaten the shit out of Obama.
Presidential candidate John McCain today called for an apology by presidential candidate John McCain for his "attacks" that have "no place in the Republican party". McCain stated, "We are the party of Lincoln, and attacks like this do not belong in a dignified campaign". McCain stated that he had no direct control over the candidate but wanted to be clear that McCain did not speak for him on such issues.

McCain should just keep his mouth shut and let Wright continue to dig Obama’s political grave.
Wright had this to say about Obama:
He’s a politician, I’m a pastor. We speak to two different audiences. And he says what he has to say as a politician. I say what I have to say as a pastor. Those are two different worlds. I do what I do. He does what politicians do.
'cept Wright is not staying under the bus. And now he's out in full force showing us that his hate-filled offensive words were never, in fact, taken out of context at all.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus
With all the electioneering that goes on in Black Churches, I'd say the audiences are 1 and the same.
The people of the USA have a right to know just who is this mentor Obama. Is it Satan himself? I thought something was badly wrong when people were falling at Obama’s feet, and asking if he is the Messiah? I think that Obama thinks that he is the magic Negro.
I saw McCain talking about the fact that Hammas has endorsed Obama. Pretty klutzy performance, I thought.
He can’t have it both ways. Either he’s got to attack Obama, or he’s got to refrain. But it’s absurd to make “statements of fact” and then say, “I leave you to draw your own conclusions.”
McCain Criticizes Remarks by Obamas Former Pastor
*****************************EXCERPT INTRO**************************
CORAL GABLES, Fla. Senator John McCain delved on Sunday into remarks made by Senator Barack Obamas former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., saying it was beyond belief that Mr. Wright had likened the Romans at the time of Jesus crucifixion to the Marines and had suggested that the United States was acting like Al Qaeda under a different color flag.
Up to now, Mr. McCain had largely avoided talking about the incendiary views of Mr. Wright, saying he wanted to run a respectful campaign. He has even called on the North Carolina Republican Party to pull an advertisement that focuses on Mr. Wright.
So I can understand, I can understand why people are upset about this, said Mr. McCain, the presumptive Republican nominee for president. I can understand why Americans, when viewing these kinds of comments, are angry and upset.
He is using the wishy washy style of discussing facts because that appeals to the wishy washy voters who call themselves independents....LOL....
McCain is mentally and emotionally stuck on the Senate floor discussing middle of the road mushiness in his true liberal kumbaya tome. This guy has no business being POTUS.
McCain waited until the ball was going out of the park, then started swinging the bat as if he’d hit it.
...liberty will hang.
There was one of those talking heads debates about Wright, and of course the Obama shill stated that the focus has been on Wright, rather than on Obama. She of course is dead wrong — the focus has been on Obama because he refused to repudiate Wright, and sat there 20 years listening to the racist demagogue (possibly studying to become one). Thanks Ernest.

You're not wrong...obama, I read somewhere, was considering becoming a preacher. I didn't keep a link to the article. Pity. But every time he speaks, if I shut my eyes, I can imagine being in obama's church...asking myself, what is it I should be hoping for?
CHANGE!
Change the Constitution - like in Kenya?
Kenya's political rivals today agreed to write a new constitution to allow for more power-sharing in a bid to end weeks of deadly post-election violence...
Obama will be lucky to have a political career much after 2008.
GASP! For a minute there, I thought Juan McAmnesty had grown a pair and was going to stand up. Never mind, some half-hearted mealy mouth “rebuke” of “reverend” Jeremiah, and the usual nicey-nicey about his Democrat “colleague” and “friend.” He must have lost a lot more over in that Communist Vietnamese prison than we know about.
Hillary, I hate to say it, showed more balls in going after Obama/Wright than McAmnesty. But, then again, she has no “friends” or “colleagues” to concern herself with, just the raw, uninhibited quest for dictatorial power.
Meaning you’re supportive of this nutjob?
Oh, for sure ... it's just that hildebeeste and hussein have even less business being POTUS.
BOHICA.
He has to tread carefully, otherwise the partisan media shills will start hurling the race card like a ninja in a bad kung fu movie.
