ID ruling stuns Dems, Ind. setback for Obama

The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 Monday to uphold a strict Indiana law requiring voters to present photo identification at the polls, handing Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) a serious setback days before a pivotal primary battle.
(snip)
Obama, however, will face a significant disadvantage in Indiana because the high court failed to strike down a law that affects two major pillars of support: black voters and young voters.
Indiana requires that voters present state or federal government-issued photo identification on Election Day.
But a recent study conducted by the Washington Institute for the Study of Ethnicity and Race found that 18 percent of Indianas black registered voters do not have a valid photo ID card. The groups analysis also found that 20 percent of registered voters 18 to 34 years old do not have valid IDs.

If the data are correct, the ruling could actually help Hillary in the upcoming primary. Imagine. Bush's SCOTUS picks helping Hillary's prez bid.

Portrait of a dhimmicrat: ID needed for gun purchase, no ID for voting. Actually, I don’t mind an ID for gun purchase, but demand it for voting. Some of our unauthorized voting friends have much more capability for widespread damage than an unauthorized gun purchaser. Really.

I guess its just too hard to apply for the proper government issued photo ID. 99% of Indiana residents have one. I don't get why that upsets the Democrats so much after all their hollering about how the 2000 election was stolen.

The groups analysis also found that 20 percent of registered voters 18 to 34 years old do not have valid IDs. Big deal. First of all, only about half of registered voters ever show up to vote anyway.
Secondly, these people only have to gather together a couple documents and spend some time at the DMV in order to get an ID.

Nearly every college student has a photo laminated university ID card and nearly every one of them has a state drivers' license - again with a photo. The notion you can't get a photo ID in this country is bogus.

But, what's to stop a massive "voter ID" fraud? And, who's going to manning the voter ID verification positions? If the democrats can have fraud one way, they'll find another way. They always have.

Yeah, ya gotta wonder. Some (ahem) people can make the effort to go downtown for food stamps, welfare and the free clinic. But getting a (free) ID is just toooo difficult.
Also, why do the blacks meekly suffer such insults by the Dems? The Dems are essentially claiming that blacks are just too lazy and too dumb to get a simple ID. That would infuriate me.

If you read carefully, you should see that the numbers presented in this article seem to prove that non-blacks are affected by this law moreso than blacks are. 18% of blacks don’t have ID. But when you add in all other races to the stats, the number becomes 20% don’t have ID.
Well, the only way that’s possible is if blacks have a higher rate of ID cards than everyone else.

EXACTLY! Why is it that only Dems are upset when it comes to proving their identity? It’s because they CHEAT! They double vote, the dead vote, the illegals vote. How dare we Republicans ask for valid id’s. Every illegal, dead, or twice voter nullifies the votes of the well informed, serious voter who has studied the issues. This ruling should be in all 50 states to make this election fair. Where do you find all this excess? In the big cities, with Democrat machines who scratch each other’s backs, and wink at all the graft and voting abuse. It’s time that all votes are cast ONCE and all illegals are denied a vote! If you are a valid citizen, you vote ONCE and only once.

Now if they’ll simply integrate the Real ID (tm) IDs into a national database that is referenced at the voting booths we can all but kill off voter fraud.
1. Require presentation of your Real ID at the poll.
2. Require visual match between Real ID database picture and the person wishing to vote.
3. Store where and when this person voted and do not allow the Real ID to enter another voting booth.

1. Sit back, wait, and hope the Supreme Court strikes down the law, or
2. Go get a freakin' ID card sometime before election day.
Hmmm... decisions, decisions...

Well now ... cry me a river.
If you get to be an adult and still have no ID, it seems to me you had/have the attitude, "phuque you, I don't need no ID", and there ain't a man in this nation that takes kindly to any arrogant SOB that says that ... inwardly or outwardly.
How does an adult live without an ID of SOME kind?
NEVER got food stamps?
If you got food stamps and never had to prove who you were, shut the friggin' office down and jail the case worker's ass.
This ID thing just might be the clearing up and out of a whole bunch'o problems.

I absolutely do not believe this. If they're working, they have some sort of valid photo ID. If they're not working and are on Social Security or some other form of public aid, they have some form of valid photo ID to cash their checks.
