CNN: the ‘Yes We Can’ Network (Can we stop laughing about Sean Hannity and Fox News now?)
National Review Online ^ | April 28, 2008 | Kathryn Jean Lopez

At the White House Correspondents Dinner on Saturday night, one of the biggest laugh lines was Scottish comedian Craig Ferguson hitting Fox News: I spoke to a lot of journalists about how I should speak up here. And all the journalists said “Craig, Your duty is to speak truth to power. That's what you do, you hold the truth up for everyone to see, that’s your job.”

I'm sorry. I don’t see it that way. That’s your job. You’re journalists. I’m a late night television show guy. I make up crap that isn't true then I say it on TV. I’m like Fox News. I'm not a journalist.

I’ll be the first person to complain about the provocatively dressed supermodel anchors and reporters on Fox. (At least one was seen baring much at dinner on Saturday night.) But give credit where credit is due. And credit is due to Sean Hannity in this campaign season. His contribution to the Jeremiah Wright story stood out even clearer on Sunday night, in stark contrast to CNN's.

The fact is, if you wanted to know what the big Obama story was going to be if he were to become the frontrunner, Hannity had it right — over a year ago. On March 1, 2007, Hannity interviewed Rev. Wright on Hannity & Colmes. He gave time to a combative Wright to explain himself and put some context to his thinking and preaching — he presented both sides, though he didn’t have to, considering the nature of his program.

Great post. Thanks.

This country owes Sean Hannity a 'debt of gratitude' for his focus on Wright. Without Hannity's persistence, this country might never had a chance to see what values and beliefs the 'real Obama' had!!!

Thank you, Sean.

P.S. Hannity is doing the same with William Ayres--again, letting Americans see the 'real Obama'--someone who has no problems being friends with an anti-American, bombing-throwing, terrorist.

Though I’m not a big “fan” of Sean’s show,( I disagree with him often) he deserves “kudo’s” , “ditto’s” & “thank me’s” for his fine job exposing Rev. Wright for the evil & dangerous slime that he is.

Thanks Sean!

Sean has done an excellent job of getting the word out on Obama. He has shown the way for many others and deserves lots of credit. Keep it up Sean!

"As they explained to viewers how to understand Wright’s infamous “God damn America” comment"

I listened to Wright's explanation too, but I still don't buy it. He said that God condemns nations. The Bible supports that so I agree as far as that goes. However, it wasn't God standing at the pulpit in a church yelling "God Damn America." That was reverend Wright spewing his gutter theology.

Thus, it appears that Wright said in effect, well, since God condemns nations, I can also condemn a nation. In other words, Wright has made himself the equal of God and takes upon himself the right to judge a nation. Pretty heady stuff!

Wright has compared America to Rome. So I would ask Wright this: When Jesus was on the cross, did he yell out "God Damn Rome?"

And something else he has done is to try to deflect the criticism of himself and say that it is an attack on the black church. If his congregation agrees with his gutter theology, then yes, they should be held in the same low regard as Wright. But that is not an attack on all black churches, it is directed to the gutter black churches where black theology is preached to gutter congregations.

I don't. He's way too self centered. He also did a complete flip/flop on McCain...probably just to get a television interview with him. I suspect him of situational ethics.

Sean problem is he has spread himself too thin in his life. His radio show is the example of his lack of preparation. He seems to be all over the map because he depends on so many different media producers in two media forums. Sean can't handle two major TV shows and his radio show. He is producing crap. You can turn off his radio show and come back 40 minutes later and he is still on the same topic saying the same thing.

She apparently thinks that good looking women shouldn't dress to show it off, and the poster is intimating that this might be to her own ‘shortcomings’ in the looks department.

That being said I agree that the “info-babe” (as Rush would call them) thing can get out of hand. A bit of eye candy doesn't hurt, and she/he is just reading a teleprompter after all; but REAL Journalists should be judged by the quality of their work rather than how photogenic they are.

I understood the cheap shot by the poster; I just don’t think it’s relevant or useful.

The article had a lot more to it than the scanty clothing of the info-babes. To focus on one’s beauty (or lack thereof) is characteristic of the churlish behavior at DU.

Yes, but it was one of the “indictments” of Fox news used by the journalist early in the article; that their “info babes” were too much babe and not enough info.

She brought it up! The other poster provided “context”.

Hannity needs to put his focus back on Hillary again...Obama it is plain to see is damaged goods.

Yes he is, but that won't keep Democrats from voting for him, and even after the contentious nomination process, I strongly expect them to fall in line behind Obama if he gets the nomination.

Obama is damaged goods as far as the right is concerned, and much of the middle.

However, McCain is damaged good as far as conservative are concerned, and he really isn't getting hit hard by the Democrats or the media yet. Clinton appears to have actually gained on him recently and poll numbers for Obama against him are all over the place.

I think that is to a great part because McCain keeps hurting himself nearly every time he open his mouth.

The worst possible option would be for Obama to win the Presidency, and while Obama is horribly flawed, he still has a decent chance of winning because of the nature of the Democratic Party. He is also Charismatic, and a lot of people are justifiably suspicious of the press and will discount much if not all of the evidence of how scary Obama is.

McCain on the other hand is definitely not Charismatic, and he continuously pisses off his base.

If Obama wins the nomination, his numbers will jump as Democrats fall in line, and it will be an ugly, close race tot he White House.

If Hillary wins, she will also get a bump in the polls as the Democrats fall in line, and McCain's best bet would be to not say too many stupid things and run as the not-Hillary candidate. Anyone think he's going to do that?

Hillary might be the harder to beat, but Obama is the worse of the two to have in office, and McCain is not a strong candidate. We could very realistically see Hillary be knocked off in the primary, and see Obama win the race between too crappy candidates.

So is it better to knock off the worst candidate now, or is it better to let him win the nomination and risk him winning the White House.

Thanks for the post. Always nice to confirm with a picture those that whine about the appearance of people, i.e. “...provocatively dressed supermodel anchors...” and “...short skirts and lip gloss....”. Wasn’t quite sure how that was relevant to the article other than to contrast Sean’s work with that of the woman that work on Fox. Perhaps she was trying to imply that good looking woman can’t be serious journalists?

Craig Ferguson is not where he is because of his brains, he is where he is because he’s a clown who loves attention.
