Hugs for Hugo

Diplomacy: Bill Richardson met Hugo Chavez Sunday ostensibly to help U.S. hostages held in Colombia by FARC terrorists. But Colombia doesn't want Chavez involved, so it's worth asking what Richardson's up to.

By his engagement in private diplomatic initiatives, the governor of New Mexico seems to be running for secretary of state in the Cabinet of the candidate he has endorsed, Barack Obama. Nothing wrong with that, but let's be upfront: Richardson's aim doesn't seem entirely pure. Winning the release of U.S. hostages held for five years in Colombia's jungle would demonstrate his diplomatic chops. But because Richardson insists on meeting with Venezuelan dictator Chavez, it also might not be in America's or Colombia's interests.

Chavez's aims are far worse than Richardson's ambition. Credible evidence from the captured computer of FARC chieftain Raul Reyes — who was blown away in a March 1 military raid — shows that Chavez is so close to the drug terrorists that he could be their godfather. He pledged $300 million in financing and apparently already doled out $50 million. His master plan to overthrow the democratic government of Colombia using FARC agents is obvious.

Small wonder, then, that Colombia President Alvaro Uribe declared over the weekend that Chavez had no place in the mediation of hostage releases. But Richardson insisted on meeting him anyway, and then publicly declared that Chavez "can have a role."

While everyone is watching Jimmah Carter in the Middle East, another "democrat" is working against the interests of the USA in South America.

Investor's Business Daily's editorials are the most informativel of any daily paper that I know.

Pretty much the entire Democrat Party is working to subvert our interests in S. America:

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Colombia Free Trade.

And don't forget those congressmen that travelled down there, and that lobbyist who claimed to be working for Obama.

Richardson is running for Vice President. Obama needs him for Hispanic vote and for “gravitas” on foreign policy. Unfortunately for Gov. Sandwich on the Shirt, when you look at his record his international experience has been a disaster and he could not delivery his home state for Kerry.

Any chance Richardson had of being Secretary of State was sunk on Monday morning.

I’ll bet Richardson is having a miserable day.

Pretty much the entire Democrat Party...

...and the drive-by media who are driving right by the entire story of the threat we face from a militarized South America, allied with our named enemy - Iran.

The blessful ignorance of Americans makes my scalp crawl with anxiety.

Perhaps President Bush will address this situation with Columbia at his press conference today. But even if he does, the dbm will not spread the word.

It is time for the Administration to get its own 527 and take out full page ads that then Might get discussed on pop tv shows.

Any answer that I can think of comes across as snarky when it is written, so we will just recognize that you asked the proverbial “rhetorical” question.

What a (add any adjective here) set of leaders we have in 21st century America!
