Ann Coulter: OUT OF 'CONTEXT' OR OUT OF HIS MIND? (Wright On, Write Off)

OUT OF 'CONTEXT' OR OUT OF HIS MIND?
April 30, 2008

Whew! I'm certainly glad to hear the "snippets" from Rev. Jeremiah Wright's sermons "in context."

In the famous B. Hussein Obama speech that sent a tingle down Chris Matthews' leg, Obama dismissed the clips of Rev. Wright being played on TV as mere "snippets." He claimed the media were highlighting Wright's "most offensive words," complaining that they had been played endlessly, as if repetition were the problem with the statement: "GOD DAMN AMERICA!"

It's absolutely unheard of to repeat passages from famous speeches. In fact, I have a dream that we will not do that. Ask not what your country can do for you, but ask that the media stop replaying "snippets." All we have to fear is repetition itself, because we are the people we've been waiting for to tear down that wall of endless repetition.

So, like I said: Whew. At last Rev. Wright's "snippets" have been put in a healing context. In two speeches and one uxorious interview with PBS' Bill Moyers over the past few days, Rev. Wright had plenty of time to lay out the lush analytical context of his remarks.

In his speech to the National Press Club on Monday, for example, Wright described America as a country of "segregation, Jim Crow, lynching and the separate-but-equal fantasy." Then he ran outside to feed more quarters into the meter where his time machine was parked.

Wright described this as a country that supported the "racist regime of South Africa" and "the Contras, who were killing the peasants and the Miskito Indians in those two countries" -- as opposed to the Sandinistas, who were equal-opportunity murderers with a more diverse group of victims.

He said this is a country that "cuts food stamps and spends billions fighting in an unjust war in Iraq," neglecting to add that before you can cut the food stamp program, you must have a country that has a food stamp program.

He said we are a country that sent "over 4,000 American boys and girls of every race to die over a lie." And Wright said it is a country "where I can worship God on Sunday morning wearing a black clergy robe and kill others on Sunday evening wearing a white Klan robe." (Unless, like me, you do all your Klan-related murdering on "casual Fridays.")

And, to listen to Wright, those were the "U.S. of KKK A.'s" good points! (Is it just me, or does Rev. Wright sound kind of bitter these days? I sure hope he doesn't have a gun.)

He clarified his Sept. 16, 2001, sermon, in which he said that on 9/11 "America's chickens are coming home to roost" by saying: "You cannot do terrorism on other people and expect it never to come back on you." I'm glad to get the full context on that because I had thought he was talking about chicken farming.

Actually, that's pretty much the way I took it even when presented as a "snippet."

Rev. Wright also put into context his church giving an award to fellow Obama supporter Louis Farrakhan by saying: "He is one of the most important voices in the 20th and 21st century. That's what I think about him. ... I am not going to put down Louis Farrakhan."

If it takes Obama 20 years to notice that his pastor is a traitorous, racist nut-job, it will probably take him his full term of office to realize that the U.S. has been invaded and subdued by al-Qaida. Let's just hope President Obama pays closer attention during national security briefings than he did during 20 years of the Rev. Wright's church services.

Ann does it again!!! She is simply the best.

So it took Senator B. (whose middle name must NEVER be spoken) Obama 20 years,,,,,TWENTY YEARS,,,,to understand what Wright 'is all about'????

If true,,,,that kind of stupidity and naivete' (even an ostrich wouldn't have his head THAT FAR in the sand) by itself,,,

disqualifies him from the Oval Office.

Next week maybe Michelle Obama will get the heave ho - (can I say Ho?) This guy has no loyalty at all which is wretched and repugnant - either that or he is closet Muslim!

The media has found somebody new to spew anti-Americanism now that Cindy Sheehan has faded away.

Not to be persnickety, but the peasants and the Miskito Indians were the Contras. It was precisely the peasants and Miskitos who started the Contra movement. It was the Sandinistas who were killing them.

Obama is really hurting now - I don’t just mean the political problems, I mean he is torn asunder from the #1 relationship of his adult life (well maybe Michelle comes in for a close 2nd). Now Obama will be singing the blues, or else he’ll be singing this.......

The Love Song of B. Hussein Obama (I’m Missing Jeremiah Wright So Sooooo Bad)

I’m lying alone with my head on the phone
Thinking of you till it hurts
I know you hurt too but what else can we do
Tormented and torn apart
I wish I could carry your smile and my heart
For times when my life feels so low
It would make me believe what tomorrow could bring
When today doesn’t really know, doesn’t really know

Chorus:
I ‘m all out of love, I’m so lost without you
I know you were right believing for so long
I ‘m all out of love, what am I without you
I can’t be too late to say that I was so wrong

[with apologies to Air Supply]

Like; american blacks don't already know many of them(blacks) are far more racist than most or ANY of the whites they know.. Its just that a large amount of whites are finding this out.. The MLK speech WORKED on whites but blacks evidently just snickered waiting for advatage over some liberal white morons.. and any other whites victimizable..

Obama and Wright are not cureing racism in America they are CAUSING IT... with BOTH races.. Hillary must be just ALL a'twitter.. gleeful at the chaos..

This was the "I didn't inhale" excuse. He had a close consensual relationship for 20 years but never really figured out what was in his mind. The question remains what else he hasn't figured out for the last 20 years. The voters in Indiana and North Carolina will have to decide how much of this is plausible or believable.

I hope Coulter has a DVD or two out. Her satirical commentary stuff is roughly as good as John Stewart/Steven Colbert.

Additionally, she has the background with the NJC and so on, to do a few important serious journalism/ reporting pieces, and should. Maybe something on 'the real causes of fatherlessness in America (and Europe?)' or 'America's most highly impaired markets and why', maybe something generally ignored by corporate media ... do it as an article for Atlantic Monthly or Harper's, while also producing it for a tv news venue, and the equivalent of a PBS special,...and a DVD.

Also, of course, Anne Coulter should marry me if she's currently single. Curiously enough, I'm available.

. . . or, as Rush puts it, that you or I know more about what the preacher has been saying for two decades in Barak Obama's church than Barak Obama does.

The inescapable impression of the video of Barak Obama verbalizing "anger" at Wright's comments is that, quite simply, the words come from the lips out, and have no actual anger behind them.

If you want anger, just ask a FReeper what he thinks about having a presidential candidate who could last through a single one of Reverend Wright's offensive tirades without leaping to his feet and stalking out! If you play back a video of that FReeper's response, you won't have to turn up the sound to know whether the FReeper is angry or not!

I think she choose that word correctly for the point she was getting across.

Today from JohnHuang2 who comments in a similar manner:

First he had to tackle an interview with Bill Moyers, who took the gloves off with questions like, “When did you hear the call to ministry, how did it come?” and “What did you think when you began to see those VERY BRIEF sound bites circulating as they did?” Moyers then went for the kill! “What is your notion of why so many Americans seem not to want to hear the full Monty?” wondered Moyers, giving Wright the full Monica. (Which is probably why the “interview” is now available only on porn channels.)
Using the "excessively devoted to or submissive" aspect of the definition.

There will be no need to HOPE for that. We just have to work hard to make sure he never gets enough votes to be elected President. Problem solved.

Of course he knew, and he probably gave Wright reason to think he agreed, which is why the Rev is so steamed now. There is nothing courageous about Obama, or new, or “transcending.” He’s just a regular politician, a smooth liar, a con man who is trying to ride a wave into the WH before people realize that he has accomplished nothing. Geraldine Ferraro was right, poor woman.
