No gain, some pain - Clinton, Obama interviewed on Fox News (Barf Alert)
The San Francisco Chronicle ^ | April 30, 2008 | Joe Garofoli

Presidential candidates rarely turn down a network television interview, especially on a highly rated program. But some prominent liberals are wondering why Sens. Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Obama agreed this week to sit down for interviews on the Fox News Channel, for years the highest rated cable news network and the bastion of conservative TV news analysis.

The dilemma for the candidates: Is appearing on Fox a smart political move before Democratic primaries in two largely conservative states - Indiana and North Carolina - or not worth the effort to court what could be a small amount of persuadable Republican voters?

"I understand the need to reach out to different audiences," said Robert Greenwald, the director of "Outfoxed," a 2004 film that described Fox as a Republican mouthpiece. He also produces an online series of "Fox Attacks" videos that chronicle the network's coverage of African Americans, Obama and Clinton. "But this is a decision that will have virtually no gain for Democrats."

MoveOn.org executive director Eli Pariser said Wednesday that appearing on Fox helps to "legitimize Fox" as a news source.

"It's a conduit for right-wing smears" Pariser said, citing an unsubstantiated Fox report - later debunked by CNN and others - that Obama attended a radical madrassa as a child. Obama's campaign criticized the charges as "malicious" and "irresponsible."

Even though the story was debunked, being reported on Fox "allows these stories to get picked up by other mainstream outlets" and enter the national political conversation, Pariser said.

Clinton appeared this evening for the first time on "The O'Reilly Factor," hosted by Bill O'Reilly, who has been a longtime critic of Clinton and her husband Bill's administration - and a nemesis to much of the left.

I don’t think that FOX ever stated that Obama attended a radical madrassa. I think that they did state that he attended a Muslim school that are commonly called a madrassa. That is true. FOX can’t help it if Obama doesn’t want the truth to be known. But FOX was hardly the original source of the fact. It was all printed in the papers in Chicago during his Senate campaign.

I thought that was one of those stories that started by "just popping up" on the Internet... probably planted by some political opponent.

FOX NEWS - FAIR AND BALANCED TO HILLARY AND BARACK. It shattered the DailyKOkoos and Huffington post sterotype that they would be slammed. Now people see that and they know it’s a lie.

They certainly do. Goes to show you they cannot tolerate even a little bit of voice from the other side. Considering that CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNBC, MSNBC, etc. etc. etc. are nothing but talking points and propaganda exclusively for the left they are obviously determined that not one conservative voice be heard from. Fox is in no way conservative, but it does have more of an even balance in that there actually are some conservative voices on there along with the liberals.

>>> I think that they did state that he attended a Muslim school that are commonly called a madrassa.<<<

I believe that Obama himself, or his campaign, has characterized the madrassa he attended as a "secular madrassa"....which is a contradiction in terms.

Other sources have said that his school had classes in the rote recitation of verses of the Quran....typical of the curriculum of many of radical madrassas.

The Quran teaches "Taqiyya" - the duty of Muslims to deceive in the effort to advance the cause of Islam, particularly when dealing with infidels.

Is there a journalist in America that will ask......

"What portion of your campaign for President Mr. Obama is based on the principal of Taqiyya?"

No, the story about the madarassa was in his wikipedia bio on the day that he gave the Democrat convention speech. I know because I read it. I didn’t know anything about Obama before that day, except that he was supposed to be the Great Black Hope. So, I listened to his speech. At first, I was impressed, but it wasn’t long before I heard something discomfortingly familiar in his manner. Then when people started putting their arms in the air and swaying back and forth, I knew what it was. He sounded like a Marjoe clone. In other words, like a fraudulent southern tent preacher.
