The two former U.S. Border Patrol agents who were sentenced to prison terms of more than a decade each for shooting at a drug smuggler who dumped a load in the United States, then fled on foot back into Mexico rather than be arrested, must ask if they want clemency in their cases, according to the White House.

"There is a process under which anyone can apply for a pardon or a commutation. And if they want to take advantage of that process, they're absolutely welcome to," Dana Perino, the White House spokeswoman, told WND today.

She was responding to a question from Les Kinsolving, WND's correspondent at the White House, about the case involving Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. It has been a subject of dispute among border control advocates ever since the two were arrested.

Bush doesn’t want to upset his kickbacks from his Mehican buddies.

Did all the folks that Clinton pardoned, just before he left office, follow the required process?

That certainly is an interesting argument to make: because Clinton may not have followed the process, Bush shouldn't either.

In any case, I am not aware of anyone getting a pardon while their appeal is running, perhaps a historian can help me out.

Sutton is Bush’s pal. He won’t admit “mistakes were made” and that Sutton abused the powers of his office and deliberately steered the jury by lies of omission and character assassination “gonna go out and hunt some meskins”.

Oh, really? I wonder what the “commutation” of the sentence was, then?

I though that the criminals pardoned by Clinton used a different process, financial kickbacks to the Clintoons.

That would come up during the appeal, wouldn’t it? If it doesn’t, what’s your guess why it didn’t?

Maybe (and probably) so. Interesting to see conservatives argue in favor.

There have been a few issued over the years by various Presidents...... Libby and Nixon come to mind. But if you look closely at President Bush many of his pardons are for minor offenses where the person has served their time and are now back in society. It is basically a record clearing process for them.

I’m having trouble keeping up with you . . . you were wrong about Scooter, now you want Ramos and Compean’s sentences commuted before the appeals court finishes hearing the case?

Umm, no . . . if you actually know something about the Libby case.
