58% Say Obama Denounced Wright for Political Convenience, not Outrage
Rasmussen Reports ^ | May 2, 2008

A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 30% of the nation’s Likely Voters believe Barack Obama denounced his former Pastor, Jeremiah Wright, because he was outraged. Most—58%--say he denounced the Pastor for political convenience. The survey was conducted on Wednesday and Thursday night. Obama made his statements about Wright on Tuesday. Wright held a mini-media tour last weekend capped by a press conference at the National Press Club on Monday. Only 33% of voters believe that Obama was surprised by the views Wright expressed at Monday’s press conference. Fifty-two percent (52%) say he was not surprised. Fifty-six percent (56%) say it’s at least somewhat likely that Obama “shares some of Pastor Wright’s controversial views about the United States.” That figure includes 26% who say it’s Very Likely Obama holds such views. At the other end of the spectrum 24% say it’s Not Very Likely that Obama shares such views. Just 11% say it’s Not at All Likely.

Down deep, Obama is something other than what he is trying to portray. He fails to convince ANYONE he is loyal to his country or loves the freedom he takes so easily. There is something wonderful about a person who not only lives his patriotism, but shows it also!

In the old days, that would score as an “F” for the nation. But at least everyone has good feelings about themselves.

Yeah, but I be he joined that "church" (okay, maybe it was a real religious entity before Wright got there), for political convenience.

Make that political "necessity", from what I understand of the political machines in Chicago. That one just happens to be the "in" for buppies interested in [democrat] political office.

“11% are imbeciles”

I think you are underestimating the voting numbers of imbeciles here. Anyone who would vote for Obama is an imbecile. Any rational observer could see he is totally unqualified to be President of the United States. Leave out however left-wing Marxist and disastrous his policies might be. He lacks experience, judgment and character necessary to be President. It’s that simple, or it should be. This man’s campaign is imploding (as I knew it would) but there are enough “true believers” (read “imbeciles”) out there that just might get this guy elected.

Exactly!!
We look for qualities like character, physical or moral courage, judgement for the POTUS, and not a physical appearance.

Some how, this is going to boil down to America being called ‘racists’ if he doesn’t win.

So much for a unifier, race transcender, and change.
Same old, same old.

I guess the Teflon coating is flaking off.

Luckily, the Dems can't return their purchase under warranty!

Denouncing Wright without denouncing Black Liberation Theology is a worthless concession.

“If he makes it past Hitlery, he is toast in the general.”

I agree with you pretty much. First, I think he will get past Hilary. She’s like the football team scoring 21 points in a 4th Quarter comeback, but she was down 24. Too little, too late. “Almost” comebacks don’t make NFL Films, and neither will she.

So it will be Obama in November. Looking at November right now, he SHOULD be toast. Why I think he’s toast is because he won the nomination by winning states he has NO CHANCE of winning in November. You think he’s going to carry the south and Great Plains? No way. I think he loses Pennsylvania, Michigan & Ohio for the reasons Hilary won there. Without those states, a democrat cannot be POTUS.

My point is that it’s really scary he is even going to BE a candidate in November. There have to be a LOT of imbeciles out there. And, November is a long way off. What if McCain has a public meltdown (possible) bungles this great opportunity (possible) or just keels over dead (at his age, also possible). Then what?

I believe Lincoln said of these "You MAY be able to fool SOME of the people ALL of the time . . . ."
