ALTOONA, Pa. -- Police say a straight-A business student at Penn State-Altoona told them he has been selling cocaine to finance his college education.
Twenty-year-old Michael Conforti, of Hackettstown, N.J., was charged in the aftermath of a sweep last month by the Blair County Drug Task Force and Logan Township police. He was originally charged with three drug deals involving a confidential informant but yesterday authorities added charges of possession with intent to deliver cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police based those charges on drugs, nearly $3,500 in cash and other items they say they found at Mr. Conforti's residence. Police say Mr. Conforti told them he sold drugs because his mother's poor credit rating kept him from getting student loans.

In before the usual liberaltarians.
What a shame.... All because BUSH doesn’t care...
Like this is the first time this has ever happened?
Friggin’ Penn State.

Just following the example set by members of Congress and professional athletes who believe the ends justify the means.
“Like this is the first time this has ever happened?”
While not illegal, I knew a girl in my accounting classes who paid her tuition by dancing at the local strip club.
You do what you gotta do I guess.
BUT....dancing at the local strip club is not against the law. Unless she was buying cocain from a Penn State College student and distributing it around the dance floor....
Geez, when I went to school, there were frats there where drugs provided almost half of their yearly finances. The underground economy has always flourished in colleges.
“Student allegedly sold cocaine to pay for college”
Shocker! /s
I used to get weed from a guy who sold it and spent the money on college.
Must be pre-law.
I thought he was pre-med.
How cosmopolitan.
What’s the difference?
It only stands to reason - lucrative enterprise, plenty of willing customers, not a lot of other things a (male) college student can do to get their hands on that kind of money, lots of built in cover - students are always “hanging out”, “hooking up” etc.
As a 335 lb. guy in college, I was a bouncer at a local club. After being shot at 3 times, run over twice (yes, literally run over with a car) and punched in the face more than a dozen times, I quit, but at least it paid the bills!
“Risky Business” 2008 style
hmmmmm, I reserve judgement, does he have 3 names, eyes look normal.
Somehow he doesn’t look the “straight A” type. I wonder if any of his profs are also customers?
