Just got a Republican Pollster Call
self | self

Posted on 05/02/2008 4:01:22 PM PDT by PaForBush

I just got a call from a Republican pollster asking if the election were held today would I vote for McCain or a Democrat. I said there really isn't much difference between the two and he laughed and said " I've been hearing that all day". I said 'pass it on to McCain'.

Since I have never liked hillary and think she’s a liar, a hypocrite, a power hungry woman w ho has no class, no conscience, and Obama is a virtual unknown with no experience, I’d have to say there are some differences between Mccain and the dems if you look hard enough.

True.

McCain still has to reach across the aisle to/for his 'friends', while Obama and Clinton don't have to.

That's the point. We shouldn't have to look so hard. McCain has continually betrayed us for ten years now. He's the author of some of the most toxic legislation around.

Most of us will hold our noses and our breaths, close our eyes, try not to vomit and vote for this crummy loser hack the GOP is nominating. But responding like this Freeper did when the party calls our homes is a good way to voice displeasure with McCain.

Frankly, you’re dead on target. Folks are in denial now, but they won’t be by by 2012.

I give it until about the middle of 2009, before some of these folks get religion, as McCain rips our rights right out of our hands.

It’s not going to get better, just because we hope like hell.

I used to vote that way, but it only results in "creeping crud". I will vote third party or write something in. Never again will I vote for whatever garbage the GOP puts before me.

Then most of you will be voting for a socialist. The holding your nose and voting for the lesser of two evils loser mentality is precisely what has caused the GOP to incrementally move towards the socialist left and have candidates like McCain.

B-but, it's McCain's turn...!

That sure sums up all of the valid reasons for him to run, doesn't it?

I think the America Republic is dead. Its citizens vote for their favorite for all of the wrong reasons, no candidate supports the Nation over Party, citizens vote party over Nation, and so on. Worse yet, none of our leadership appears to have a grip on reality. Business leaders and government officials alike have sold this Nation "down the river". Our citizens are tormented at every turn by PC crap and gutless rulings.

This Nation is dead. I grieve.

I just don’t understand how everyone can be so angry. Somebody voted for McCain. You act like he walked up and stole the nomination. He won it, fair and square. So what does that mean? It means that this party is not a conservative party anymore...the country is not a conservative country anymore. You can huff and you can puff, but the numbers in the last couple of elections prove my point. Now, can he win the general without conservatives? It depends on whether it’s hillary or barry. I personally think he’s the only republican who has a chance of winning this year just for the fact he’s not conservative. I’m a realist...and these are the facts of ameria in 2008.

It is the “hold your nose and vote” mentality that gets us RINOs in all offices. If we do check our constitution at the door and vote for Juan “Amnesty” McCain, and if he somehow were to pull off a win, we will have proven that Conservatives don’t matter any more, and even worse that conservative and Constitutional issues are no longer important.

McCain has won the nomination thanks to Democrat crossover voters. McCain has long been portrayed as the “man in the middle”.

This wass kind of like Rush’s “Operation Chaos”, only without the formal organization. By Democrats crossing over to get a liberal “Republican” on the ticket, they now are assured of someone they can swallow no matter how the election turns out.

I would imagine that it would be FAR easier for the average liberal to vote for McCain than it would be for even a moderate Conservative to push the button for Hillary or Obama. That is because Juan McCain is ONE OF THEM.

Conservatives are like the gal who didn’t get asked to the prom, but her “guy” wants her to show up just in case his date dumps him when he gropes her.

Should we vote McCain just ‘cause he ain’t Hillary?

I’m starting to understand why abused wives stay with their hubbies.

Maybe they should have made that an option on the poll. Results would have been interesting.

I voted for Ron Paul in the NC primary today just because I couldn’t pull the lever for McCain. It’ll be the same in the general, somebody besides McCain.

McCain doesnt want to raise taxes, put a Lani Guinier on the Supreme Court, or expand government spending by a zillion dollars.

At this point, that’s enough for me.

Does anyone know McCain’s philosophy on drilling in Anwar and other places where we have oil (gulf, N. Dakota)... I heard some stupid thing he supposedly said today and am praying he didn’t say it.

Anwar, he’s against drilling. There’s a McCain sings Streisand or some such thread where you’ll hear his position in his own words. About the stupid thing he said today, he implied that we will always be at war with the Middle East because we’re dependent on a resource that they have in abundance.

It means that this party is not a conservative party anymore...the country is not a conservative country anymore.

You could be right about that. If you are, then obviously it is time for conservatives who are realists to look for a new political party and in the meantime, just write in a vote for President in November.

"I voted for Ron Paul in the NC primary today just because I couldn’t pull the lever for McCain. It’ll be the same in the general, somebody besides McCain."

I have been tearing myself apart over just how I will vote come the the general, and I still don't think that I can bring myself to vote for McCain.

About the only justification I have to vote for this boob, would be for supreme court nominations that he promised would be conservative. But who knows? This maniacal RINO may use just such an event to reinforce his maverick status with his pals on the dark side.

Overall, I just don't trust him, and I really don't think that Hillary or Obama could be much worse.

Seeing as to how we're not a conservative party anymore, what reason do I have to vote for a Republican?

Let's see. McCain is kinda like an old style conservative Democrat. Obama is an America hating, self-hating, racist, Marxist creep. Hillary is an interesting combination of Marxist, falangist and Livia Soprano. No difference I guess.

Most of us will hold our noses and our breaths, close our eyes, try not to vomit and vote for this crummy loser hack the GOP is nominating.

Most Republicans, possibly.

Most conservatives, on the other hand...? Take a gander at the pitiful state of Juan's campaign contributions, thus far, and simple logic will quickly lead you to an entirely different conclusion.

We'll be voting for genuine conservatives, down ticket... and leaving the top space blank altogether. The next time the Republican party wants conservatives to line up and donate to/campaign for/vote for vote for their man... tell 'em to try running conservative candidate. It ain't rocket science, honestly. ;)

Give me ANY proof that a conservative can win. ANY.

Well, how about we start with 2006 where I believe something like 85% of all conservative ballot measures won.

The problem with the GOP, is that it has not governed conservatively so people don't trust them anymore.

Remember the Illegal Alien Amnesty debacle pushed by none other then our soon to be fearless leader McCain and our own beloved GWB?

How about all the reckless spending by the GOP and President Bush's refusal to use his veto pen?

It's not that conservatives can't win, the problem is that GOP has temporarily ruined the conservative brand by not living up to it's promises.

If the GOP had been on the right side of just these two issues, we would be looking at a GOP rout and a conservative GOP candidate for President.

Everything you just wrote proves that a conservative can’t win. At least now. And it there are few conservatives around, nothing is going to change..so it seems, at least for now, we’re DOA.
