DNC Is Low on Cash
The Wall Street Journal (excerpt, subscription) ^ | May 3, 2008 | Washington Wire

Posted on 05/03/2008 10:09:36 AM PDT by HAL9000

Excerpt -

The Democratic National Committee raised only $4.7 million in April and ended last month with a perilously low $3.7 million in the bank, a Democratic insider tells Washington Wire.

Four years ago during the last presidential election cycle, the story was much different. The DNC raised $19 million in April 2004 and ended that month with $42 million cash on hand, Federal Election Commission reports show.

~ snip ~

What explains the cash crunch at the DNC? Some critics say it’s proof that Chairman Howard Dean just hasn’t been very effective at cultivating donors or managing resources. Dean’s defenders argue the dramatic Obama-Clinton fight is sucking up most of the Democratic money this year.

Delightful news. It just keeps getting better. This election will be the object of study by political science majors for decades to come.

Excellent news. But the bad news is, how much money is the RNC raising?

RNC is raising much more than the DNC.
I’ve been wondering how the two dem candidates can be raising so much money, even after all these months of campaigning. Where is all that money coming from? Good thing the economy is in such dire straits (sarcasm here), imagine how much more they’d be able to raise if it were doing great.

I wonder how many of the people who gave Obama $200+ million are now wishing they had their money back? :0)

“DNC Is Low on Cash.” The first half of that sentence would’ve sufficed.

However McCain will be accepting public financing while Obama currently has $51 million in cash on hand and Clinton has $31.7 million compared to McCain’s $11.5 million.
There’s still an awful lot of work to do.

That’s what campaign finance reform hath wrought.

We now have all kind of groups like moveon etc. sucking up the money and DNC suffers.

It costs a lot for a pot party these days. I’m sure the money went to good use.

"No wonder Democrats want taxpayers to finance elections...."

In the meantime, they are content, not to mention rolling in $ as Soros, Heinz, Allen, etc., contribute to the 527's who run ads for the Democrat candidates. What do Democrats need $ from the DNC for when they have these billionaires and all those foreigners paying for their campaigns? Just sign on to their agenda, privately, of course, and a candidate will have all the funds needed to swamp the opponent.

Ya Think? The Democrat Party of 2008 is NOT the Democrat Party of 1948.

I'm listening to Joe Klein read his book "Politics Lost" and I highly recommend it for political insight.

How can Clinton have 31 million on hand when 10 days ago she was in the hole for over a million?

I have trouble believing ANY of these numbers.

Plus, Denver announced, about a month ago, that they are broke and can’t fund the RAT convention.

Collateral damage from Operation Chaos?

Not only are Obama and Clinton sucking up most of the liberal dough, Rush has them spending it against each other rather than against Republicans. Thus negating the advantage either alone would have compared to McLame's pathetic fund raising.

It sounds like $2000 contributions from dish washers and bus boys have dried up.

A person can have cash in their pocket and huge outstanding credit card and mortgage bills at the same time.
Hillary hasn’t paid her bills, she has debts of $15 million.
Clinton lent her own campaign $5 million in the first week of February. The cash has been flowing in since then. She raised $10 million in one day on the internet. The campaign donation filings are registered with the Federal Elections Commmission.
The reason that the DNC is low on cash is because leftists are donating to the two candidates’ campaigns and not to the Party.

Bill and hillary have billions stashed away. The only question is, how much money can they launder before it becomes so obvious they get into trouble—especially with the press currently willing to go after them.
