Will Danica Patrick Be The First Female F1 Driver? (No Hot Rodham Jinx Please)
Auto Racing Daily ^ | May 3, 2008

Jenson Button could end up with a female team-mate before very long.

His Honda boss has offered talks to pint-sized American racer Danica Patrick after she made history in the Indy Racing League series.

Patrick made her IndyCar debut in 2005, however, it was not until three years later, driving for Andretti Green Racing, that she claimed her first victory, winning the Indy Japan 300 and thereby becoming the first woman to win an IndyCar race.

The American is now hoping to test her skills in Formula One, admitting that she would relish a ‘proper’ test with one of the teams.

“I don’t think there’s anything wrong with a real, proper test.

“I was asked to do a demonstration lap at Indy in 2005, and I said, ‘No way. You’re making me a show. That’s embarrassing.’ But I would say that a real test is absolutely something I would do.”

Do you think that women who arrive always skankify a profession?

This is a ridiculous question; either a trick, or, I suspect, extremely uninformed.

NO, Danica Patrick will NOT be the first female F1 driver, not because of lack of talent, but because WE’VE ALREADY HAD THE FIRST FEMALE F1 DRIVER. 50 years ago in fact.

Maria Teresa de Filippis (who raced 1958 - 1959); more successful was Lella Lombardi 1974 - 1976, and others have tried - Divina Galica (1976 - 1978), Desiré Wilson (1979) and Giovanna Amati 1992 .

She could become the latest, but seriously, is she the most talented driver not to be in F1? Or even in the IRL?

this babe is all style over substance and certainly doesn't appear to have the physical strength to drive in F1 let alone the talent or expierence

.

Another female driver made history this past week, Ashley Force became the first woman to win an NHRA event in Funny Car.

Do I see a trend here?

well, i had respect and admiration for her until I saw that pic......even so, Tony Stewart can get off his fat ass and lose a few pounds and quit crying about the unfair advantage

Are you serious?

As far as Tony Stewart, what a baby.

Are you serious? yes - only because she's a role model for girls just being introduced to the sport - does everything have to be sluttified ? does every thing have to degrade to crotch shots?

glad we agree on Tony - he's a lard and a whiner

“As far as I can see, that’s wanting your cake and eating it too. “

Some people wish they could get away with that and some people can.

We were in Atlanta last week for the races,it was really
exciting to see Ashley vs John for the finals.

That Old Spice car was gone.

Go Ashley!!

Was gonna go to St.Louis this week-end but sure we`d
run into those storms that were predicted.

My inlaws were going to St. Louis this weekend, I’ll just wait till the U.S. Nationals and night qualifying to go.

Maybe so but Ashley hasn’t resorted to the “cheesecake shots” like Danica has. She said her crew would give her a pretty hard time if she did.

Can you name any of these women making it on ability alone?

She better stay put. She will be a miserable failure anywhere else.

And, while I may get flamed for this, Ashley makes Danica look average at best.

Agreed. It's hard to explain, but Danica's looks are a little too severe for my taste...

Uhhhhh, Tony Stewart doesn't race against her, he's NASCAR and she's IRL.

LOL. Danica drives open wheel and excels. Many Indy car and open wheel racers have gone the NASCAR route and dominated. No NASCAR driver has ever been able to come to Indy and even qualify for the race. Or perhaps you were referring to looks in which case.......never mind.

I don’t know the sport but I know you seem to have something against women, especially good looking ones. The term skank is very odd, coming from a woman.
