In Chicago, in addition to the 52% Comrade Daley adds another %12.75.

The illiterate Democrats here in the People’s Republic of Illinois are completely ignorant and think the rich are responsible for jacking up their prices.

They don’t know the difference between a profit and a profit margin. Since the govt takes a larger slice of the pie than profit, the govt is the price gouger par excellence by their own stupid criterion.

Furthermore, they don’t get that businesses build taxes into their cost. If Hillary taxes corporate profit, the big guys at the top will earn in the same ballpark, but we the consumers will have to pay more. There is nothing wrong with CEOs making a ton of money anyway — sports teams will pay a lot to get Kobe Bryant or LeBron James on their roster, so why shouldn’t corporations pay a lot to get superstars on their starting lineup, given the huge responsibility entailed?

In addition, it never occurs to them that gasoline taxes are not a progressive tax. They aren’t even flat taxes. They are REGRESSIVE taxes that disproportionately hurt working people.

ARRRGGGGGH I can’t stand Democrat stupidity. They’re almost as bad as the cretards we have here at FR.

Punked is a mild word for what he got! He got B-busted so big time. He is still afraid of the Hildebeast from when he was in their administration.

Guess its a form of PTSD flashback!

What this tells us is that George S. knows full well Hillary isn’t going to be in the whitehouse so he doesn’t need to be nice to her so he can get a job there again.

I'll fondly remember to my final breath Stephy all but crying election night 2000 when the networks reversed course and gave Florida and the election to Bush.

The look on his smug little face was so enjoyable.

Just suspending it for 3 or 4 months will do very little for the average motorist. Average 15,000 miles per year, so at the most the average number of miles driven during a 4 month suspension might be 5,000. At an average of 20MPG, the $0.184/gallon federal gas tax would save about $46. Big whoop.

You’re right, IMO. Eliminate it permanently.

Do you prefer Pepto-Bismol pink?

Uhmm, don’t they build roads with that tax money? I think that’s how it’s suppose to work in america anyway. Instead of paying the toll when you get on the freeway, you pay it when you fill your tank. It seems like a good system to me. I’d rather they built roads with gas tax than with income tax. I’d like to see more separation of the funds though. As it is, it all goes into one big pile and you never know what it’s really being spent on.

Florida scrapped the proposal to suspend state gas taxes, and I agree with that decision. The suspension of gas taxes will do little to ease the hit on the pocket book, and the loss of revenue from an already strapped state revenue picture doesn’t make any sense.

State and Federal tax receipts aren’t discretionary in the sense they can be adjusted for various circumstances. The state and federal government spend every dime they raise, and in most cases, spend more than they raise. Creating a reduction in revenue that wasn’t budgeted only creates chaos somewhere in ordinary people’s lives.

Just a few years ago, the liberals wanted to add 50 cents tax on a gallon of gas to force conservation. This is when gas was below $2.00 per gallon. Now at $3.50 per gallon on the old tax basis, they want to eliminate the tax? I don’t think so.

If they suspend the tax on diesel too, and not just the federal tax, but ALL tax, state tax included, then it could give the economy a little breathing room and maybe get it’s feet back under it again...maybe halt the food price inflation.

That is nothing to sneeze at.

And transfer the cost of paying for the roads from the people who actually use them to the top 20% of income tax filers who pay for everything else.

If I’m understanding your point, I think you’d favor toll roads. That would accomplish your goal of making those who use the federally funded roads pay for them far more accurately than the gas tax.

Keep in mind that this is just proof that Hillary (and McCain) think the American people and their votes can be bought off for $40 or $50. I’m surprised more people aren’t insulted by this.
