Government meddling with the free-market forces can have ill consequences. Just look at how government mandates for corn-based ethanol have affected the global food supply.

According to CNN senior business correspondent Ali Velshi, CNN viewers rate the economy as the most important issue and named gas prices as their number one concern. "AOL Money Coach" Hilary Kramer agreed with viewers, but regarded Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Barack Obama's proposal as "valuable" when matched with alternative energy legislation.

"Absolutely right," Kramer said on CNN's May 5 "Issue #1." "That's why Barack Obama with a $150 billion package that he wants to jumpstart an entire industry alternative energy and clean technology could be very valuable, especially matching that up with legislation to force the use of alternative energy."

I’m not a math major, but if you have any money, kiss it goodbye, soon.

"AOL Money Coach"

I did not know AOL even had a money team let alone a coach. AOL sure lightened the net worth of the former Mr. Jane Fonda which was probably took a team effort.

Just as the UN is going ballistic and some US senators are trying to get the EPA to relax alternative fuel mandates. What does BHO want tortillas at $5/doz?

I’m no economist, but if obammy and a dimocrat congress get elected, I don’t see why the price of gold wouldn’t double. There would be no end to their destructive interference. For one thing, this clown wants to raise taxes just so he can piss off $million$ on some phoney baloney “alternative energy” industry.

It was sad to hear we’re seeing global food price rises and shortages because we’re using so much corn for ethanol. And we’re doing that to “feel good” about shifting away from oil???

While there may be benefits to shifting away from fossil fuels, we should be able to say that making corn available for food for those who need it is more important than making a political statement that we are against fossil fuels.

I see doom.

I’ve already lost tons of money trying to be conservative with funds - near retirement - savings, bonds, etc. - now we all face a tax increase and when you add up all the programs that will be ‘attempted’ if hillary or obama get in, doom. Of course, once a new program is in place, it virtually never goes away even if it’s not working at intended.

It’s the unintended consequences of let’s say, not voting for McCain or voting for hillary or obama that even posters here cannot even comprehend. Yes, we all get to feel good about doing something or doing nothing (not even voting), but the consequences may be frightening.
