Westboro Church members have failed to post bonds

BALTIMORE - Two members of the Westboro Baptist Church have failed to post bonds needed to delay the collection of a $5 million jury award while their case is being appealed.
As of 5 p.m. Monday, the deadline imposed by a federal judge, Shirley Phelps-Roper and Rebekah Phelps-Davis had not posted their bonds of $125,000 and $100,000. The women had argued in April for lesser bond amounts.
The jury award followed a finding in November that the Kansas church intentionally inflicted emotional distress upon Albert Snyder, of York, Pa., by protesting the Maryland funeral for Snyder's son. Marine Lance Cpl. Matthew Snyder was killed in Iraq in March 2006.

Every relative of every person whose funeral the Westboro cult has protested should file similar civil lawsuits for intentional infliction of emotional distress.
I would gladly contribute to any legal fund for this purpose.
I believe that KS is not a "homestead" state - so the ultimate goal should be to attach and seize the Westboro compound (and it is a compound - the classic definition of one) and leave the Westboro cult homeless, penniless and out on the streets.
Another goal should be to look into whether forcing small children to spend weeks on the road protesting funerals and harassing mourners is endangering their welfare.

I’m not a bankruptcy attorney but I do know that Kansas, like all states I believe west of the Mississippi, does have homestead exemptions.

Interesting, nobody is stealing their children.(1) The children at the YFZ Ranch were not "stolen": if anything was stolen at the YFZ Ranch it was childhoods - from the children by their alleged parents.
(2) It is a good thing that the Texas CPS have not emulated the slackness of their Kansas colleagues, but have actually been attentive and coordinated.

We have a winnah.
This anti-American, cult family operates within the thin letter of the law, but way outside the bounds of simple human decency and consideration, the simplest and most basic right of a grieving family to be able to say goodbye to their loved one in peace.
Sue them all, down to their underwear. Throw them under the jail when they refuse to pay.

Can a corporation have a homestead subject to the exemption laws?
Or are they working out of someone’s home?

To: Mercat; Joe Boucher
Mercat is correct: an examination of KS title statutes reveals that a homestead - up to an acre within incorporated city limits - is exempt from the kind of damage judgments we're discussing.
The federal exemption has a dollar limit, however.

This anti-American, cult family operates within the thin letter of the lawFred Phelps and his children are attorneys, and the Westboro cult lives off the money it receives in various structured settlements that it has won against the city and the state.
Turnabout is fair play: they "earn" a living through litigation, their victims can earn it back.

What I don’t get is why Mr. Roper and Mr. Davis would marry the nutty daughters of Phelps. Apparently, they are just as nutty.

Interesting, nobody is stealing their children. If you have evidence of physical or sexual abuse, provide it to the Atty General of Kansas. I'm sure he'd love to get this family on something like that. . .put them away for a very long time.

Fred Phelps was disbarred years ago. Suspended in IN RE PHELPS, 204 Kan. 16, 459 P.2d 172 (Kan. 09/24/1969). Junior suspended IN RE PHELPS, 244 Kan. 596, 771 P.2d 936 (Kan. 04/14/1989). Margie suspended. IN RE PHELPS, 244 Kan. 600, 771 P.2d 934 (Kan. 04/14/1989) and also in that case, Fred Sr. voluntarily and permanently relinquishes his license to practice law which means he was about to be disbarred. Margie is back. I don’t know about Junior. But daddy is no longer able to ever again practice law in Kansas or anywhere else. I think the Baptists threw him out too.

I don’t see children being stolen anywhere. And in fact the WBC children are as vile as their parents are.....Ever do a PGR ride? I have & in a few states. Ever hear what these little children spew from their young mouths? I don’t know why CPS has not gone into the WBC compound. Its sad to see children brainwashed in any CULT.

Interesting, nobody is stealing their children. That's right, so it's a good thing that the state of Texas finally put a stop to the flds practice and decided to protect those poor kids.
It'll be a message to any other brainwashed pervert child rape sex slave rings that they better not try it either.
That was way overdo.

MM.... the WBC children are vile & not like the FLDS children who are taught to TO KEEP IT SWEET!. In fact if someone did grab a WBC child I would bet they would return it asap back to the WBC.
Its just sad to see so called parents use their children as both these groups do although in different ways. Prayers for the children of both these VILE CULTS! WBC & THE FLDS!!!
