My friend who works at the University says they are in lockdown mode because there is a gunman on the loose in the library. Anyone have more info?
Let me be the first to bet its a guy carrying an umbrella or something, and a woman with a lot of cats freaked out and called it in as a man with a gun.

Yeah, but there are deadly apartment shootings all the time around the country that claim multiple lives. These barely make it past the first night on the local news, but the individuals involved are just as dead.
God forbid it happens on a college campus, though. Not to trivialize the deaths of the students, but it’s kind of interesting that college shootings have a disproportionately larger impact on the public. I guess it’s because, at a school, the news organizations can capitalize on the irrational fears of parents accross the nation and make it a bigger story.
It’s because people think they’re so safe because they’re gun-free. When (not if, WHEN) Students for Concealed Carry on Campus wins, everybody wins.
Campuses have banned guns. A gunman has a safer environment for himself.
just heard on local radion station 107.3FM.....UofR has issued an alert of a suspicious person seen on campus. White male at the Boatwright Library seen with a small handgun. Campus is on alert.

UofR, Richmond and Henrico police are on the scene. He’s been seen in several locations.

An “alert” in about 8 pt. type was finally posted in the bottom right hand corner of the U of Richmond web site at 4:15 ET. Wow, they are pretty slow and they have a big flaw if they can’t make it a banner.

24 freaking minutes. That’s how long it took to issue this alarm. My prediction now is, they find this guy without incident. If he’d wanted to kill some body(s), they’d already be dead.

Breaking: Police looking for suspicious person on U-of-R campus
Richmond, Henrico and University of Richmond Police have responded to a report of an armed person on the U-of-R campus. A university spokesman says that students and faculty are being told to stay where they are and to lock their doors. Police are looking for a white male with sandy blond hair. The suspect is said to have been wearing a brown or black jacket with “Sheriff” written across the back and was carrying a firearm. To watch To watch CLICK HERE.

Students at the University of Richmond have been asked to stay indoors after a suspicious person possibly carrying a gun was spotted on campus.
According to University officials, the suspicious person was spotted at the Boatwright Memorial Library on the Richmond side of the campus.
The suspect is described as white male with short blond hair, a slender build, wearing a navy blue T-shirt. He may have been wearing a fake gray beard. University officials said the suspect refused to identify himself to library employees.
University of Richmond, Henrico and Richmond Police are all on scene. Students have been asked to stay where they are. There is no word of any injuries or shots being fired.
A text message was sent to Richmond students warning them of the situation and asking them to use caution.
St. Christopher’s School nearby the campus said they have locked their doors and moved all students into the gym as a precaution.

Incredibly small and and incredibly slow. If you weren’t looking for the alert you’d never find it. They better hope something doesn’t happen, for more reasons than one.
Yeah me too. The VT thing freaked me out.
Although if something nuts is going to happen it could be anywhere.

CBS 6 has learned that there were two sightings of the man. The first took place around 3pm, the second 20 minutes later. He was seen at the 815 Cafe, which is located inside the Boatwright Memorial Library Complex, by school employees. Employees believe the man was wearing a fake gray beard. Right now, police are looking through the library room by room.
If i knew there was a shooting at a campus I was at I would be off hiding in a hollow tree trunk or something.
I would get out of there so fast.
