Lake County votes delayed in Indiana
The American Thinker ^ | May 6, 2008 | Thomas Lifson

Posted on 05/06/2008 7:59:26 PM PDT by MtnClimber

Watching the coverage of the Indiana primary tonight, everyone is wondering why the votes from Lake County, where Gary is located, are delayed.

A cynic might assume that local officials are waiting to see how many votes are needed to put Obama over the top.

For what it’s worth, Union County seems to be out, too, but I guess the numbers just don’t make it worth the trouble to complain about.

Now they will probably start reporting Lake County since Hillary just spoke. I wouldn’t be surprised if BO gets more votes than the number of registered voters there.

The total population of Union County is about 7,000. In November 2004 there were about 3300 votes in the Presidential race, of which 1045 were for Kerry. Even if many of the 2004 Bush voters decide to follow Rush’s advice and vote for Hillary, it won’t make much difference.

Thanks for the info. I have driven through Lake County many times but through Union County maybe just once. I was guessing Union had a lot fewer people (and maybe less overt corruption, too).

Hey. If it gets REAL close, maybe Clinton loses, demands recount, Lake Cty economy rebounds due to lawyers and reporters swarming and filling every available room, nook and cranny.

It is going to be close once Lake County Comes in...Here is some math. She is now up by 38k votes. Marion County (Indy) population =876K; total votes with 98% reporting in Dem contest in Marion Cty is 182K or about 21% of 862k population voting Dem. Of the 182K, 67% Obama, 33% Hillary; African-Am percent in Marion is 25.8%. In Lake County, population is 492K and African-Am percent is 26.2%. If we assume same percent of population votes in Dem primary and goes 67/33 Obama then Obama will net about 35K votes from Lake County. It could be another Florida!

It can’t be another Florida because it is not ‘winner take all’.

The delegates are split proportionally - so there is almost no point in fighting over the 1 delegate difference there might be.

More like Johnsoned. A newsman who mentioned the Nixon-Johnson election found it amusing that Johnson’s just-found votes came in in alphabetical order.

Hillary Clinton 587,973 51%
Barack Obama 566,988 49%

“more votes than the number of registered voters “

Do you remember about 20 years ago a Democrat Congressional candidate won the race with more votes than there were registered voters? I think it was in Delaware.

This late surge for Obama from Gary is no surprise, been waiting for just this scenario since around 9pm Eastern time.

Lake county is coming in now. Obama taking it 75/25 with 21% reporting. If that percentage split holds, he wins Indiana easily.

Live, from Northwest Indiana

By Garance Franke-Ruta
CNN is reporting that there are more than 11,000 outstanding uncounted absentee ballots in Gary, Ind., and that Lake County will not report its final election results including that tally, allowing the race to be called, until perhaps as late a midnight.

The latest: Gary Mayor Rudy Clay arrived at his headquarters “Tuesday night with a list of voting results showing overwhelming margins for Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton. Many of the districts had Obama with triple digit totals and Clinton with totals in the single digits or teens. One district had a result of 126-4.”

Nixon never ran against Johnson.

Nixon/Kennedy in 1960 - Chicago Mayor Daley held up the count until he knew how many Kennedy needed to beat Nixon.

The PIAPS’ lead is down to 16,000. At this point it doesn't matter if she squeaks out a win - she's toast.

She's cancelled all her appearances tomorrow and will be strong-arming the SDs. Probably not enough ammo in the FBI files to keep her in this. With any luck, she pulls out tomorrow. But as her speech indicated, the women is delusional and may fight on. I have said for years, she's out of touch with reality, mentally unstable. You have to be pretty messed up to stay married to a PIG all those years, just to be close to the spotlight, just to have your little greasy grasp of power.

This is something I have been waiting a long time for, but I'm holding my celebration until much later.

She can still kill him before the convention, if she can get away with it. She may have something on him and blackmail her way to the V.P. spot - then arrange a Ft Marcy Park for Obama...

I just not sure McCain knows how to do it - he's gonna need the help of a superb VP candidate - and even then it will be a youth vs experience campaign and I don't know if he has the energy.

Of course the democraps also realize that if the PIAPS squeaks out a win in IN, it will be because of Rush Limbaugh and the other idiots in talk radio, asking republicans in the state to vote against Obama..

Reports from all across the state indicate a lot of republican voted for Clinton, more than any margin she might end up with..

So in fact, if she wins by say 10,000 votes, it had nothing to do with democraps voting for her, but rather rogue republicans, who were stupid enough to vote for her.

Stupid Bitch

This serves Hillary right, after her self-righteous pandering garbage about the racist republicans trying to suppress minority voters by requiring photo id’s to vote. Watch how she now will contest this - the real meltdown of the donkey has yet to be seen. All you needed to see was the impeached one standing behind her while she made her “victory” speech looking like she was sucking lemons all the time. The impeached one knows corruption like no other and he knows they’re being had. This one will be contested and will lead to the ultimate liberal meltdown. This is not the script she wrote and she will not be denied. The big fight is coming!!
