Food riots and anti-US protests in Somalia are compounding the chaos in the long-suffering war zone in the Horn of Africa.

Meanwhile, an Amnesty International Report released Tuesday alleged that Islamist militants, as well as US-backed Ethiopian and Somali government troops, are committing widespread atrocities against civilians in the capital, Mogadishu. And a recent US strike against what it says was an Al Qaeda leader in Somalia has sparked further protests.

The Associated Press reports that Tuesday saw a second day of protests over rising food prices, with hundreds of youths burning tires, throwing stones, and blocking roads.

Somalia is just the latest country to see riots over rising food prices, after others including Haiti, Egypt, Cameroon, and Burkina Faso. The Financial Times has a map of the civil unrest sparked by the food crisis here.

Why would they commit atrocities against civilians? Why would anyone do that?

And a recent US strike against what it says was an Al Qaeda leader in Somalia has sparked further protests.

Oh, those civilians. Never mind. Carry on.

Amnesty International - always the first in line to blame the US. Without constantly browbeating us, their organization would crumble.

Oh, those civilians. Never mind. Carry on.

I'm glad you caught that. An Al Qaeda leader, a civilian.

"We believe the Americans used poisonous bombs,"

If only it were true. Should've.

If only it were true. Should've.

If they had two brain cells they would have figured out that if we used poisonous bombs, there would be many many dead.

Had I been in charge, and able at the time of the last American effort to help, once we got our people out of there, my choice of a bomb would have come from a Big Buff.

I simply love these anti-American protests and riots in these third world hell-holes. If the US invaded, conquered and occupied anyone of them, established law and order, imposed our political / capitalist economic system, within a generation they’d be lifted out of their misery.

I’m tired of feeding a world that despises us as they eat our food. Let them starve.

I will forever associate that country with desecrating the bodies of our dead soldiers as they dragged them through the streets.

To hell with them.

They wallow in their victim hood. Without it, they’d have to actually do something to change their lives.

Reminds me of the lake in Russia that ‘dissapeared’ (sank in a bog) and the old Russian lady who remembered well the Cold War woke and declared “AMERICA STOLE OUR LAKE!!”

So long as none of our soldiers are in harms way, they can riot, burn, pillage, and starve. Let them burn that hell-hole to the ground.

Perfect example.

“AMERICA STOLE OUR LAKE!!”

Is only slightly more stupider than the poison bomb accusation.

(yes, I know stupider is not a correct word, but it goes with that stupid group of people)
