Surge in fatal shark attacks blamed on global warming?

You knew this was coming. Global Warming is to blame for everything these days, including Global Cooling. From The Guardian:
Two deaths in the waters off California and Mexico last week and a spate of shark-inflicted injuries to surfers off Floridas Atlantic coast have left beachgoers seeking an explanation for a sudden surge in the number of strikes. In the first four months of this year, there were four fatal shark attacks worldwide, compared with one in the whole of 2007, according to the International Shark Attack File at the Florida Museum of Natural History in Gainesville.
Of course, these deaths began with an unprecedented number of Great White sightings in southerly west coast waters beginning on March first. West Coast whites are migratory - they work a circuit across the Pacific that appears to be determined by fish runs, seal populations, time of year and breeding/birthing instincts. The fact that they all showed up at once in these waters suggests something along those lines - think Salmon in the fall.
TOPICS: Culture/Society
KEYWORDS: carboncult; globalwarming; greenreligion; sharkattacks
Among Enviroes, blaming global warming is just a knee-jerk reaction. In this case they just kind of lumped it in with other things. Of course, nobody seemed to include the fact that ARGO buoy temp measurements have show over the past several years NO ocean warming at all and even a slight cooling. But why let facts get in the way of a good spin?

If I want to know if temperatures are rising, I measure CO2 levels. That tells me if things are getting warmer.
If I want more data on whether temperatures are rising, I measure shark attacks. This can confirm that temperatures are rising.
Now, you may be asking me why I don't measure temperatures if I want to know if temperatures are rising. Well, that would be stupid. Temperature measurements show no upward trend, and they may show an actual decline -- so obviously this would not be an effective way to meaure any rise in temperature.

I just heard a report on the radio this morning that said the polar pack ice is thicker this year than in any year since 1970. Who knows, if we can keep Al’s hot air contained for another 6 months, we might enter a new ice age.

Letters are appearing in many coastal newspapers asking them to report on the dangers of a new trend. That is, triathletes practicing their swimming outside the surf line in the morning and evening. When one does that he is, in essence, serving himself up on the shark buffet. But the newspapers are not reporting this as it does not make as good copy as the global warming baloney.
To: Mongeaux
The sharks on the east coast also follow migrations of bait fish along the coast. Many of the bait fish pods swim right along the shore line. I used to live on the east coast of Florida and the shark fishing during spring migration was FUn.

Thought they would blame it on over fishing, thus creating a need for smaller limits and other restrictions for anglers.
On a side note why do you need a fishing license to salt water fish off the coast of Florida? It’s not like they stock the d*mn things or anything, why should a state be entitled to all that money for nothing?

I’ve noticed that I have been sweating more and more since the month of May began and can only conclude that it’s due to human induced Global Warming. The fact that normal seasonal changes in weather patterns this time of year and that the Sun’s radiation is hitting the Earth nearly straight on (as opposed to at an angle in Winter months) should not be considered.

Another pure garbage story worthy to be fed to the pigs. If, as some recent scientific reports suggest, ocean temps are actually decreasing (and not increasing), then the rise of shark attacks can be attributed to global cooling, and not global warming.
This makes sense as it regards the great white shark, which is a cool-water shark. On the Pacific side, the cooler ocean temps would help explain the increased sightings — and attacks.
But will they blame global cooling for this? Not on your life.

Radio tagging off the California coast has shown that female whites hit southerly waters (including Hawaii) in the winter and spring (they are really thick off Guadalupe Island in mexico). They think it's for breeding and pupping, but they don't really know. The San Diego attack was thought to have been a female based on the Bite Radius.

In days of old, spiritual leaders, witch doctors and the like, would tell people eclipses happened and crops failed because they were impious and weren’t supplying said shamans with enough virgins (for sacrifice, of course). I used to wonder how people could be so gullible. Now I look at this global warming hysteria, which blames the weather, natural disasters and animal behavior on politically incorrect thinking, and I understand. Maybe we should offer Al Gore a couple of virgins?

"Surge in fatal shark attacks blamed on global warming?"
Around the years 2000-02, when this global warming crap was just getting started - someone had a computer model that showed the earth's temps rising by 1 degree in the next 100 years. Meanwhile, algore was still pouting and licking his wounds from his assumed, but twarted victory in Florida, and needed something to do to seal an otherwise milquetoast legacy.
Fast Forward 8 years...
Now, everything that can't be pinned squarely on the shoulders of George Bush, is blamed on Global Warming. It's the new version of "The dog ate my homework.".
But Global Warming has now taken on all of the aspects of a true religion. Either you believe it, or you don't. The existence of Global Warming is generally "faith" based, with only fables and parables as proof.
To listen to the Suess-like characters of "Goreville", the earth is now crumbling beneath our collective feet because of something called "greenhouse gases"...a.k.a. water vapor.
The residents of "Goreville" will soon don white shirts and ride bicycles house-to-house to extol the religion of global warming. They won't be asking for donations, per se, but WILL be selling "carbon credits" to the gullible.
There is a rumor that "Carbon Credits" are made possible by the same marketing firm that gave us Arizona waterfront property, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
Out of all of the warnings we hear daily about scams, you'd think the MSM would take a minute to analyze Global Warming as closely as any other.
The "Weather Channel", for instance, needs to be renamed "The Global Warming Channel". That's all they're about these days. No longer can we get the weather forcast, it's now the EARTH Forcast...like I care what the weather is in Istanbul.
They're going to really look stupid when the time passes and we're all still here...no worse for wear.
The world should worry much more about Global Dictatorship, than any warming that might occur in this record cold year. Politicians, socialists and communists are much more of a threat than any weather will be in the next 500 years.
The U.S. is slowly commiting suicide, and we're worried about whether we've got enough carbon credit nuts stored for the winter?
You don't think you pay enough taxes already? Yep, that's all carbon credits are...or at least they are a precursor for taxes. As soon as the officials of "Goreville" get you used to shelling it out, then they'll make it a tax and you won't have a choice. Remember the camel's nose in the tent, and all that.
I am taking the Nancy Reagan stance to Goreville and Goebbel Warming..."Just Say No". There have been so many shams about it, like algores movie with crumbling "styrofoam" that was supposed to be artic ice, and out-of-context pictures of the poor Polar Bears...which is also a farce.
The "Goreville" gang are mostly leftist, and remember, if the truth would do the left any good, they'd be using it.
