COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - A Democratic political consultant is questioning why Governor Strickland and U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown voted against impeaching President Clinton, but are now seeking to force out state Attorney General Marc Dann.
Consultant Jerry Austin of Cleveland notes that Strickland and Brown both voted against impeaching President Clinton while they were serving in the U.S. House 10 years ago.
Like Clinton, Dann is a Democrat who has admitted to an extramarital affair with a subordinate and is being challenged for inconsistent statements made under oath.
Austin says every case is different and perhaps Strickland and Brown should be asked what the difference is in this case.
Congress impeached Clinton, as Democrats are now threatening to do to Dann. Clinton, who was subsequently acquitted in the Senate, never resigned.
Meanwhile, Ohio House Speaker Jon Husted says lawmakers determining whether Attorney General Marc Dann should be impeached over a sex scandal need help from an unlikely source: the attorney general himself.
Husted said Wednesday the House isn't equipped to investigate whether Dann has committed any impeachable offenses. He says it would be helpful if Dann appointed an independent investigator to review all the information from the scandal.
Dann, the state's top attorney, admitted an extramarital affair with an employee that he said contributed to an atmosphere in his office that led to sexual harassment claims against an aide.

As you were saying, my FRiend...

The longer this guy stays, IMO the more damage done to the Rats' rep in Ohio.
Hey Dann, why don'tcha stick around awhile, Pal...
Oh this is good. This is really good.
Stickland & Brown threw Dann under the bus, so now he has gotten back up, tied Bill Clinton to both of them and threw them off a bridge.
I love it.
It seems pretty clear to me what the diff is. There is an upcoming election, and the Dem incumbents don’t want to appear to be covering up a scandal.
Stickland & Brown don’t know who they are dealing with. See Strickland is a countty Rat, Brown is a Cleveland Rat and neither know how to handle a mafioso like backed-into-a-corner Youngstown Rat.
The only thing funnier is Speaker Husted asking Dann’s office for help in impeaching Dann.
Oh, I think Brown knows how to deal with the mafioso quite well - he’s from Cleveland. Cleveland is second only to Youngstown in crookedness in Ohio.
culture of corruption
Yes.
Tony,
Check out the comments on this blog, this is gonna get ugly
I need more popcorn.
Nice! It’s like Operation Chaos - Ohio Edition :)
