FORT WORTH, Texas -- Police said a man who tried to rob a donut store was shot and killed by a man who lives near the store Friday morning. The robber broke into the store in the 100 block of Roberts Cut Off Road in West Fort Worth and terrorized the woman who was working there, police said. Police said the woman, Angel Randle, ran out the back door screaming for help.
The neighbor heard the pleas, grabbed his shotgun and then fatally shot the robber, police said. This is the second time this month shes been robbed, witness Raymon Farrell said. And, God bless her soul, shes still alive. A River Oaks officer was passing by the scene and witnessed the shooting. Investigators said they questioned the neighbor, but dont expect to arrest him.

I wonder if it had been the same robber on the last robbery. If so, he won’t do it a third time.

Amazing! What were the chances that the robber would enter a donut store and not encounter a cop?

A doughnut shop is sacred ground to the police..
Not only won't he get charged, he'll probably get a commendation.

"donut store""A River Oaks officer was passing by the scene ..."
"passing by"...sure, ok, if the article says so - two incompatible phrases in my opinion.

Not a smart move on the part of the robber ... donut shops are the second most highly guarded places, after Fort Knox.

If this happened in any other state, he’d probably be charged since it wasn’t actually his property.

There is a common law principle for the defense of yourself OR OTHERS in imminent danger or harm.
The woman called for help.
With proper representation it will not even come to a grand jury in many places despite the best attempts of wacko Prosecutors.

You should eat the part around the hole. It's the best part.

"It happened at 2:30 in the morning, the shop was not open."It doesn't matter that it wasn't open. You have to trust me, I know this for a fact. Cops freqently stop and check on the status of early morning bakers. Bakers are one of the few people around after the bars close. Donut shop bakers also have access to a very fresh, precious item, as well as hot coffee.
Any other Freepers have personal knowledge/experience that can back me up on this?

My brother was a police officer in Mpls. There was a dunkin donuts near the U of M,, St. Paul and Mpls jurisdictions.... I guess there were so many cops going there the powers that be set up a boundary they could not cross to get to the donut shop.
They dubbed it the “The thin blue donut line.”

Be glad to.
I used to operate coin operated games (pinball machines, etc) in a donut shop in Rancho Cordova (near Sacramento)Ca.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Deputies made it a regular stop between 2 and 5 AM (when the shop was closed) to 'check up on the safety of the donut maker/baker'.
And yes, they always got free coffee and a nice warm freshly made donut or ten.
But I'm still glad that they were there checking up on the place.

The guy was committing an (apparently) armed robbery in Texas. He definitely injured the clerk. What more do you need?

Donut shop bakers also have access to a very fresh, precious item, as well as hot coffee.LOL! Reminds me of my college days. I worked at Burger King, and always did the late shift and close on the weekends, because I lived at home, didn't have a curfew, like the girls who lived on Campus did. (this was the 70's), and my parents didn't mind my working late. There was a donut store around the corner, and I usually got off work between 3 and 3:30 am. I stopped off at the donut place quite often, if I saw their light blinking that the donuts were ready. There were always one or two police cars already there when I went in.
Man, those donuts were good, and my family loved it when they woke up the next morning with fresh donuts waiting for them.
