A 40 year-old man was killed late Friday afternoon when four mortar shells fired from the Gaza Strip landed on Kibbutz Kfar Aza in the western Negev. The victim, a father of four and resident of the kibbutz, was killed in the front of his house.

Three others were wounded in the attack, one moderately and two lightly...

Hamas radio said Friday evening that the group was responsible for the mortar attack. Abu Obeida, a spokesman for Hamas' military wing, said the terrorists had targeted a military position.

israel could put a stop to this by razing x1 sq. Km for every rocket/ mortar that lands in Israel. Then they turn the dead land into free- fire zones and kill anyone entering it.

If they were REALLY serious at stopping this, every barrage from gaza would immediately receive counterbattery fire for 30 mins. Preferably a mixture of DPICM , HE, WP, and smoke.

Actually, it was four shells. Nonetheless, as you pointed out, Jimmy Carter would think this is a step in the right direction.

One wonders what might happen if each time a palestinian mortar shell or missile landed in an Israel town, the townsfolk lobbed a mortar shell or fired a missile on roughly the reverse trajectory...
