Next time someone asks “why were we fighting Communists over in Vietnam?” the answer is “Communist Vietnam does not tolerate any form of dissent, which it considers a threat against its one-party rule.”
There were Vietnamese who opposed the Communist government. So called “antiwar” activists of the 1960s were Che and Mao spouting Communists who WANTED THE NORTH VIETNAMESE TO WIN THE WAR. It wasn’t about ending war, it was about securing a Communist victory.
Is this terrorism, or chickens coming home to roost in Communist Vietnam?
